Historic attractions in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is often over-looked as a holiday destination; aside from the bargain air fares out there at the moment and low-priced hotels, this beautiful country is overflowing with amazing tourist attractions.

Hire a car in Prague and travel around the capital city. There are many great landmarks in Prague; the Prague Royal Summer Palace is probably the most famous of them all and when you visit the city it is not hard to see why. It also goes by the name of Belvedere Palace and it's a great example of Italian Renaissance architecture at its best. Prague has so many historic sites, not least being historic centre itself, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Head south from Prague, through the lush countryside and you will reach a stunning medieval town called; Cesky Krumlov. Here you can explore a 13th century castle located along the banks of the Vltava River; again the site is listed as a UNESCO site.

Not only does the Czech Republic have some of Europe's best historic sites; it also has amazing spas! Carlsbad is the most popular spa, which dates back to the 1350s. It has twelve healing springs including the main one with temperatures up to 73C - now that's hot! The town were the spa is located, Karlovy Vary, was also used in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale.
