The Auto Europe confirmation stated the pick-up location as Porta Nova, however there was no Maggiore office near Porta Nova and following some great help from the Enterprise office near to Porto Nova, we ended up at the Maggiore office at Porta Susa some two hours later. The representative at Maggiore informed us that the Porta Nova office had closed some two years prior. The support from both Auto Europe and and Maggiore representatives was good and the fundamental issue was outdated information. "

" The upfront price of the rental was cheap but when I arrived at the counter I was hit with 30€ charge for wanting to drive my car in France. This was not highlighted when I made the booking and took the price of the rental up to one of the bigger car rental firms. Had I known that, I would not have used Italycarrent. The car itself was battered - lots of damage which made it very difficult to check the status report that I was handed at the beginning of the rental Plus it absolutely stunk of cigarettes - it was quite frankly disgusting. When I returned the car, I was told that there was additional damage to the vehicle. Fortunately, I had taken a video of the car at pick up (I've had this experience before with a cheaper rental company so now always do this) so was able to demonstrate that the damage was there when I picked it up. However, this took well over half an hour. I had plenty of time to spare, but anyone in a rush would feel pressured to sign the document and take the hit. I also have a private insurance to cover my excess so the stress of having to pay for any damage was removed but anyone without that would probably be very anxious. The counter staff were very polite and courteous throughout but overall it was not a great rental. "

" Email sent to you Thur 10th Apr: I would like to discuss these claims of damage and my treatment and very poor customer experience at both the collection and return of the hire car from Turin. So can you please arrange for someone to give me a call before any charges are just taken from me. At collection, a very friendly member of staff showed me round the car and quickly explained there were many multiple minor damages... nearly on every panel. Consequently I didn't inspect each and every single mark and scratch. He almost encouraged me not to by saying it will all be fine given the car had so many damages. We drove the car safely to and from Montgenevre and returned to Turin airport with no incidents. On return we were met with a very different character who inspected the car like I've never seen. After at least 10 mins he found a hairline scratch on a panel near the rear door. It would be removed very quickly with some polish and a cloth but he claimed not to have any polish. When we compared the check out document with the damage there was a mark #4 where the hairline scratch was. He said that reference was for a very minor dent which could also be barely seen particularly from within a dark car park. So I wouldn't have known if the checkout document referenced the scratch or a dent as both were so insignificant. He said it would be a 150 euro fine for the repair - interesting as none of the other many damages had been repaired. I said this wasn't fair and he said he was just doing his job. I asked for the options he said pay 150 euros at the office, or wait to speak to the head office. Then he said he'd phone a superior to check the best price... he reduced it to 130 euros. I still felt this wasn't justified given the 3 minute job to fix the minor scratch. I then went to the local office and spoke to the same man and a female at the desk. They said they could remove an 80 euro admin charge, which went even been mentioned before then. Then they said the 130 offer was gone and now it had to be 150. I wasn't comfortable that any of this experience was correct or even legal so I confirmed I would wait to speak to head office before handing irregular payments to local staff who seemed to be making things up as they went along. And now I see an email suggesting I pay 250 euros for the 'damages' and an 80 euro admin fee? I hope someone can explain quite what was going on at Turin today and we can resolve this sensibly. I will also contact the agent I used and have used many times previously. "

If not this company will falsify issues. Missing snow chains seems to be a common occurrence. Apparently our snow chains were missing upon drop off. We hadn't needed to use snow chains for the duration of our trip but my husband had looked under the booth flooring where the spare wheel was and noticed there was a package there which we assumed were the snow chains for incase we needed them. Upon dropping the car off (key box) we recieved an email stating snow chains were missing as well as they needed to do a full upholstery clean to the car. The car was not entirely clean when we picked it up but we didn't mind too much as we are a young family so know there will be a full valet required when dropping off the car (full valent is standard with any hire company). Italy car rent charged us €60 for cleaning and €80 for missing snow chain. Both completely ridiculous! We've been hiring cars for over 20 years now and have never come across a service like this. Complete con artists. We are pursuing the matter further. There is also no point in speaking with Italy car rent customer services as they will make false claims with little evidence - they know very well what they are doing! To add, the staff are incredible rude. We are utterly disgusted by our experience. "

" I admit I did make a an error in stating the pick up time but I never realised just how how critical the pick up time was (I have hired cars frequently through AutoEurope and have also suffered many flight delays.! I've never experienced a case where my rental was cancelled until this one. My booked cost of rental was about £95. In the terminal the only company to be able to offer a car was Sixt at €600. I did eventually manage to find a car for €177 (LocAuto) which was ready 5 mins after completing the paperwork. No problems with this contract. good quality car, good service, good fast return. available from the Airport car rental area opposite arrivals. "
" Due to a late arrival of a flight and also a slight error I made in stating the arrival time in Turin (and therefore the start of the rental time), I was told on arrival that the rental was void and no car could be supplied. They said they do not honour a contract 2hr after the stated pick up time. I was 20 mins beyond this. They could not offer any rental vehicle. I did speak to AutoEurpe in a long call but sadly no solution was found (although your was very assistant polite did try to assist.) "

" I had called europcar a few days before as I wanted winter tyres as I was driving from Turin and then through the French alps to serre chevalier and they assured me that winter tyres where mandatory as we got to alps the snow was really bad and we had to drive slow as we where sliding about and what normally takes around 2 hours took us nearly 5 hours and at one point it got so bad we stopped to put the snow chains on and guess what no snow chains so we carried on slowly and got there in one piece thankfully. The next morning I looked at the tyres on the car and realised they were summer tyres . I'm so cross as me my wife and my son could have been killed or seriously injured , it's not good enough . We know so many people who ski with the army who hire cars of of you I would like something done about this please . "

" I was presented with an extra fee of €135 when picking up the vehicle because I needed to go cross-border to France. This was neither made clear when booking nor on the booking voucher - there is nothing mentioned under the "Additional fees to be paid locally" section (even though it lists things like hiring child seats and GPS units!). This is such a common thing, especially when renting near a border like Turin, that it really should be made more obvious. When I phoned to complain (having picked up the car) I was extremely disappointed that you (Auto Europe) weren't willing to offer any compensation, or even admission that this is not made clear at any point in the process of booking and picking-up the car. The pre ordered snow chains were present in the boot but... on the second day when fitting the chains up a mountain in snow the chains were found to be 2 sizes too small. After purchase they insisted on an invoice in addition to a receipt. But then refused to accept and reimburse as they wanted an invoice from the retailer??!! Made out to them?? On drop off they received the chains and still refused to reimburse so I am currently €85 in deficit all due to Italy car rent! Please can you assist with compensation!!! "

I was told it was illegal to drive and yet was offered insurance that would cover me for several hundred pounds. On saying no, this continued to reduce until about eighty pounds. " I have never encountered such rude and confrontational staff at a rental service before. The mini van I collected was in poor condition. It was difficult to identify the number of scratches, dents, scuffs on the vehicle and match with the existing damage inspection sheet. The vehicle was reversed hard up against the car park side and it was raining very hard - I had to pull the vehicle out to open the rear luggage door. On return they immediately saw a fine scratch on the inside of the rear window - very suspicious as it was barely visible - I had certainly not noticed it on collection. They then began accusing me of causing the scratch with skis (we had no skis) and that it must have been us as it wasn't reported by the previous drivers. They maintained it was entirely our responsibility to have recorded it on collection - it was almost invisible and certainly not noticeable in the shadow and rain at the back of the car park. We were 2 adults with 4 young children and did not use the rear seats and only had 2 large and 2 small suitcases. We used the vehicle for 2 trips, 100km to apartment and 100kms back to the airport. Oh yes and the front passenger rattled and wouldn't lock - only discovered when we drove off. Their response when we got back was that if there was no warning light on the dashboard it was ok. "

" The experience, quality and fulfilment of this reservation has been woeful. Below is a list of the issues experienced. Case has been riased over 5 days ago with Auto-Europe with 0 response to date. 1) The booking was for a Land Rover Discovery, full size SUV or Similar. This is required due to a party of 4 adults and luggage on this trip. Upon arrival we were informed by NOLEGGIARE they do not offer a Land Rover Discovery, nor anything of that size. We were offered a Ford Focus Estate as a replacement, being told this is in fact a class above our booking, which is clearly is not. After 45 minutes of not accepting this situation, we were offered a replacement the next day, which could be picked up in Turin City post 4.30pm. Luckily we were due to stay Turin for 48 hours. The replacement vehicle provided was a little better, a Pontiac XT4, but still not a full class SUV and post some arranging we were only just able to fit 4 pieces of luggage into the boot. 2) The replacement car (Pontiac XT4) was in a very poor state and in fact most likely not road legal. However we had not choice but to proceed as no alternative was offered and we needed the vehicle to continue our trip. The vehicle has a smashed driver side wing mirror rendering it unusable and the passenger side wing mirror has obviously been replaced in the past with a piece of mirrored plastic which warps any reflection so badly it is also unusable. In summary; We have been provided a vehicle sub the class of vehicle we paid for, so this contract remains unfulfilled, and the compromise vehicle provided had damage which could render it not road worthy under local law. Additionally I am appalled that the rental company attempted for 'fob us off' by offering a ford focus estate stating that was a class above that which I had booked.. clearly not a honest statement to make. "

The car was extremely expensive for what it was, a fiat panda which was given to us dirty and with the rear screen wiper broken! Please note that it did rain quite a lot during our stay in Italy and not having working wipers was really non convenient and unsafe. Car was suppose to to be on full tank and was given with less which is not what I signed for. I asked at the counter to speak with a manager as I expected to get a reduction on the charge for this car which was extremely expensive for the condition of the vehicle we obtain on the day. Below are the reasons that I am looking for your representation and advice on how to raise a complaint with Ecovia. Issues with AutoEurope Claimed I could open a complaint/case on return and once the contract with the car hire company was complete. Despite two emails seeking advice since I returned, I have waited a week with no response. Rang AutoEurope from the airport to advise my flight would be delayed. They did not effectively pass on that message and the Ecovia desk in Turin were not ready with an update or options. When the Ecovia desk were demanding 300euro additional fee I sought advice from AutoEurope. Despite three calls where I was on hold for 10mins+ I could not get through for the assistance and advice I needed. Have not assisted me on return contesting this charge with Ecovia Issues with Ecovia Advised Turin desk was closed as it was 11.05pm when I got to it and they closed at 11pm (despite my booking being for 11pm) Advised that a car was available but would be 300euro extra Did not advise, but was later clarified by AutoEurope that this was an upgrade fee Upgraded car was old, dented and had 75k kms on the clock. Hardly an upgrade. Need for upgrade was not made clear and I assume it was because the desk did not properly reserve a car for my booking, which is clearly not my fault Fee was communicated to me as a penalty for being late Charged 100euro additional to the 300euro just to drive into France "

I had never heard of the vehicle - a DR that we were given but it was totally useless for driving in a mountainous area, I basically had to use first or second gear to keep any speed with a tailback of furious Italian drivers behind me! Drop off was strange to, nobody there to check the cars, I had to go across and hand the keys in at the rental desk in the arrivals terminal, I would have preferred that that they agreed the car was in the same condition when I dropped it off, we took photos of scuffs on the boot lip and a chip on the tailgate before we departed. " Check in was incredibly slow- basically a man with an old photocopier. Everything was hand written until it came to consent for marketing, which was done on a tablet, which then promptly broke. When we finally got to the car there was no one to give us the keys. He eventually came and said the car hadn't been cleaned so would be 2 minutes doing that. Return wasn't ideal- there were no spaces in the car park so we had to double park, blocking people in. "

" When I started my google hunt for a hire car, I had one condition which eliminated all other options. Snow tires!!! I booked with auto Europe, it said I had snow tires. When arriving at the pick up, was informed we just get a box of chains. The French law states cars need snow tires. I was staying in a lower valley and driving up to resort every morning. I wanted to keep my child safe with snow tires. I have snow tires on my car and van at home and we only have ice a few weeks per year. Driving in snow up a mountain road in normal tires is stupid and we did have trouble. "

" Generally the experience and car were good but: (1) the car we were given had no working satnav or map function. We were advised at pick-up that it did and/or could be somehow linked to our iphones to provide a sat nav system but, although we tried (& are experienced iphone / sat nav users) it wasn't possible. (2) the signage for rental car drop-off when returning to the airport is very poor/small by comparison with numerous other European airports and the particular car park entrance gate is not at all obvious. (3) Having finally found the entrance, there were zero Sixt-labelled available spaces so we had to use one for a different rental company (4) there was no-one from Sixt or Auto Europe in the returns car park so we were obliged to photograph the car all round in case there was a subsequent false claim of damage. "

" Queued for well over an hour to collect the car at the Leasys hire counter at Turin Airport. No winter tyres on the car, given snow chains instead. Snow chains are ok if you are driving in lots of snow, but we only had a small amount of snow and not enough to put the snow chains on the tyres. The diesel fuel that was in the car on collection wasn't suitable for winter conditions and caused us problems as we were staying in the mountains, we had to defrost the fuel lines ourselves! "

" Sicily by Car are a poorly run company with poor and lazy working practices, they can't be bothered to check their cars properly and that exposes customers to being charged for damage they did not cause. Avoid this company or suffer being charged for damage you did not cause. "
" This company does not check the cars before you collect them. They had you the car and say to is perfect when it isn't, they just can't be bothered to fill in the forms. I reported lots of damage to them on the exterior of the car which they noted. They did not check the interior of the car and nor did I as there was no provision on the forms to do this our even encourage it to be checked. This is in clear breach of BVRLA and ECRCS regulations for the car rental industry, as such this makes charges by the car rental company to the customer inadmissible. Nonetheless this company still charged me for damage to the interior of the car which I didn't cause and they couldn't be bothered to check at the point of rental. Shoddy company with poor working practices at best which exposes customers to charges for damage they did not cause. Trust pilot is littered with such complaints about this company and they get a low rating. However, they get a high rating on Auto Europe perhaps because Sicily By Car is owned by Auto Europe. "

We were offered a Cinquecento which was totally unsuitable for 4 adults with ski luggage so eventually offered an Alfa Gulia which was unsuitable as it was automatic and we could fit all our luggage in the boot and had to have a suitcase & ski boot bags on the back seat between passengers which was unsafe . Although the car was very nice it was not suitable for what I hired a vehicle for - driving into the mountains skiing . "

" The online forms are easy to fill out and the information of the hire is complete. One small issue is the quotes don't highlight which ones have full insurance from the supplier vs excess protection from autoeurope. One has to read the detail of all the quotes. Call center staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. "
