It is advised that you fully read your terms and conditions before signing and driving away with your vehicle. Pay particular attention to any insurance excesses and fuel policies. Before driving away, inspect your vehicle for any damage and make sure this is clearly marked on your pick-up slip. It is also important to understand any driving restrictions and be totally adhered to how to drive in Scotland. Take with you a valid driving licence, your car rental voucher and a credit card with enough limit for a deposit.

Upon returning, make sure you allow for plenty of time, so that the car agent representative can inspect the vehicle for any new damage. It is recommended not to leave before the car hire company has inspected the vehicle and signed it off.

Inverness Airport, although a small airport by comparison with other Scottish airports, does come with numerous expected facilities. Toilets, parent rooms and a first aid room can be found in the terminal. For your convenience two cash machines are present, but unfortunately none are present in the departure lounge. At the airport you will also find a lost property office and a chapel. Within the departure lounge, you have a selection of shops, cafés and bars serving food and drinks. Free Wi-Fi is also present in departures.

Transportation / How to get to the airport

    By Car
Reaching the airport is extremely easy. It is approximately 15 minutes from the centre of Inverness along the A96. Upon your arrival there is a passenger drop-off zone within the short stay car park. Ten minutes are allocated free of charge to allow for passenger drop-off/pick-up. Along with the A96, you are also able to reach the airport by taking the earlier B9039 exit.

    By taxi
Taxis can be taken to/from the airport passenger terminal. A taxi rank exists near the Short Stay Car Park and drop-off zone. Pre-booking is available if desired. It is recommended you discuss with the taxi driver the estimated fare of the journey before setting off.

    By bus
A bus network exists from Inverness Airport and is operated by Stagecoach. The service sets out every 30 minutes and runs between Inverness city and the airport. In addition, a service exists between the airport and Elgin, Forres and Nairn, again every 30 minutes.

    By train
Inverness train station is approximately 15 minutes' drive from the airport. If reaching it by bus, then alight at Academy Street (Eastgate Shopping Centre). The train station has services to numerous Scottish destinations, including, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and throughout the highlands.

    Parking Tips

A drop-off zone exists outside the passenger terminal. Here you are able to drop-off or pick-up your passengers without charge within a 10 minute timespan. If you wish to stay longer, then a Short Stay Car Park is available and can be found directly outside the terminal building. It is relatively cheap and costs around £5.50 (1-3 hours). For longer stays, then using the LongStay Car Park would be a better option. It will cost around £11 per day if staying less than 72 hours, and only £6.80 per day if staying longer. Prices can vary so please check before making any arrangements.
