Stavanger Airport consists of two terminals – one for airline passengers and the other for helicopter passengers. The newest terminal was built in 1987 and consisted of Norway’s first jet bridges. The previous terminal was then converted for helicopter passengers only. In 2009 the airline passenger terminal was expanded but no new jet bridges were added. As a modern terminal, it has everything you would expect to find, with separate areas for domestic and international passengers.
Stavanger Airport terminal has free Wi-Fi throughout, including lots of other expected facilities for an international airport. Along with the standard check-in desks, security clearance zone, departure lounges and gates, you’ll also find baggage reclaim belts for those arriving and customs areas. Within the terminal you’ll find on the 1st floor an ATM machine and a currency exchange desk. Free drinking fountains are available in the terminal, along with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars.
There are rest zones, for those wishing to catch some much needed sleep, and showers. Mobile charging points are also available for the modern traveller to charge their mobiles, tablets, etc. duty free shops are on hand and provide a place to stock up on souvenirs and local produce before boarding. The airport has a lost and found office, a business lounge and secure storage should you need them.
A prepay taxi service exists at the airport. You simple pay at the taxi stand next to the parking garage and present your ticket to the taxi driver upon getting in. We would advise to confirm before setting off your destination and cost with the driver.
The airport also has numerous buses that operate out of it. Flybussen Express offers a service right into Stavanger city centre - with additional bus connections in Bryne, Jasund and Sandnes. It will take your around 25 minutes to reach Stavanger city. You can currently buy a ticket using the Kolumbus App, using ticket machines at the airport or on board directly with the driver.
An easier way to get to and from the airport is with a car hire from Stavanger Airport. Being only 15 km south of Stavanger city, with a journey time of around 20 minutes, makes the airport one of the best places to hire a car in. The airport has amble parking facilities for its size. Parking P3 is located near the arrivals hall and you may park there for 20 minutes free of charge. P1 is located on the right side of the main parking garage near the arrivals hall, and allows for quick drop offs of friends and family. You will also get 20 minutes free of charge here. P4 is the main short-stay parking garage and located near the arrivals hall. For long-term parking you have P7, P8 and P10 parking garages. P8 and P10 must however be pre-booked.
Parking for disabled people is available and for electric cars. Electric car bays can be found in P4 (12 bays), P7 (24 bays) and P8 (4 bays). Unfortunately, you are not able to pre-book these spaces and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Payment for car parks can be either made through the Sesam App or at on-site pay machines.
