Stockholm Bromma Airport is a minor international airport located 7.5 miles from central Stockholm. It primarily caters to domestic flights, with just over 2 million passengers being domestic, compared to 300,000 international passengers. The airport handles around 2.5 million annual passengers. Opened in 1936, it quickly became the main airport for business travellers, government usage and flight training schools. In 2002 the airport was renovated and again in 2005 to incorporate a Schengen area. Popular connections include Belgium, Finland and Denmark.

Before arriving make sure you have ready your identification, rental voucher, driving licence (including an International Driving Permit, if required), and a credit card. The credit card must be in the main driver’s name and contain enough funds for a deposit. Terminals

Opened in 1936 and subsequently renovated throughout the years – Stockholm Bromma Airport is the third busiest airport in Sweden, and the closest to Stockholm. Due to the airports proximity to build up areas, strict environmental restrictions apply. This not only limits operational times, but also the types of aircraft that can use the airport. With an asphalt runway, the airport is also comprised of one control tower and one main terminal. Opening hours are 5am till 10pm Monday to Friday, Saturdays the airport is opened from 7am until 5pm and Sundays 10am until 10pm. Operational times are lesser and also vary between days.

Airport Facilities

Contained in its one terminal are all the necessary facilities for a safe and secure visit and onward journey. Along with the general infrastructure – a departure lounge, arrivals hall, luggage reclaim belts, security screening, gates and customs - the airport also has adequate dining and shopping opportunities for its size. There are three shops, two restaurants, a coffee house and bar to enjoy. Other services include a post box, a Forex ATM machine and a VIP lounge. Lost and found is handled by Swedavia Goods Reception. There is free Wi-Fi up to 3-hours in the terminal. Extra time can be purchased if required using a bank card.

How to get to and from Stockholm Bromma Airport

Coaches and buses can be caught outside the terminal. A direct coach service is available between the airport and the city centre. This takes around 20-minutes. Bus 110 and 152 also stop at this airport and provide links to Stockholm whilst stopping at key locations along the route. This journey will take around 30-minutes. A tram service connects the airport to Alyik – which has a metro station. A taxi rank can be found outside the terminal. Official taxis are metered and have a taxi sign upon its roof.

The proximity to the city means that many passengers opt to rent a car at Stockholm Bromma Airport instead of reverting to the public transport options. Parking Tips

With 900 car parking spaces located at the airport, parking your car rental at Stockholm Bromma Airport shouldn’t be too difficult. There is a drop-off and pick-up zone directly outside the terminal and two car parks. A short-term and long-term car park are available at the airport. P1 is only one minute away from the terminal, whilst P2 is two minutes away. Parking is handled and operated by Swedavia, with pay machines located both in the terminal and at the car park.

The city operates a park-&-ride scheme in which you can park your car outside the city and catch public transport to the centre. On street paid parking is available and tickets should be purchased at the meter and displayed on the vehicle windscreen. Free on-street parking is rare to find but does exist further out from the central areas. Numerous car parks can be found across the city – these provide secure parking at a relatively good rate. They are also more likely to be closer to points of interest and tourist attractions.
