The airport in Toulon is set near the local beach in the charming countryside. It started as a military airport and expanded its services for civil aviation in the 1960's. The airport is of modest size, but still offering plenty of amenities for a pleasant stay. With its one terminal and two runways, passengers are able to find their way rather quickly. Arrivals are housed on the lower level, and the departure lounge can be found on the upper level in the terminal building. Both levels house information desks, where you can find informative tourist brochures about the region. There are also ticket desks and several self-service check-in points.

Toulon Airport, being quite compact, still offers several eating and shopping options. In the departure lounge, you will find a lovely snack bar with an outdoor terrace. The bar has sockets where you can easily recharge your phones and laptops. On the same level, there is a reconstruction of a typical Provencal village with a souvenir and newspaper shop. The airport in Toulon is connected to the town of Toulon and the town of Hyerés by shuttle service with three bus routes. There are around 5 return trips a day, with more rides added in summer. Trains do not operate to and from the airport. In order to travel by train, you will need to take a bus to one of the nearby towns which have railway stations. There are taxis parked in a taxi rank outside the terminal building, and helicopter taxi service will also be at your disposal. Car hire from Toulon Airport is, however, the most convenient and comfortable way of finding your bearings. When you pick up your vehicle, drive along A570, then take the A57 motorway towards Hyerés and Toulon, and subsequently A8 towards Cannes or Nice.
