A new state of the art terminal exists at Zagreb Airport, which was opened in March 2017. This passenger terminal covers 65.800sqm and is spread over 3 levels. It contains 30 check-in desks, 23 passport booths, 9 security points, 8 plane bridges and 3 baggage reclaim belts. In addition, a 600sqm duty-free shopping area exists, including cafés, restaurants, bars and food kiosks.
The ground floor is dedicated to arrivals, the first floor to passport control and departures, whilst the third floor for security control. The new terminal has also been designed with expansion in mind. Enough space has been planned for the future addition of more baggage reclaim belts, security gates and other airport necessities - once passenger numbers increase.
If you wish to take a car hire from Zagreb Airport then you will find all car rental service desks as you exit the arrivals terminal on the ground floor. Upon exiting the terminal the car hire vehicles are located towards the right, opposite the public car park. The airport has numerous car rental companies to choose from - a total of 24 separate providers.
Please make sure that you bring with you all the necessary paperwork when collecting your car hire. This is important, because not doing so may delay your pick-up or worse, not being able to collect your car hire. Reaching Zagreb Airport is extremely easy by car from Zagreb city and only takes around 24 minutes commute time. It is 8.8miles (14.3kms) from Zagreb and easily accessible via a good road network. Simply take the Heinzelona ul. Road until you reach Radnicka cesta Road. Once you reach the roundabout, continue straight onto Domovinski most and then keep left, following the signs to A3/E70/Slavonski Brod/ Varazdin. Taxis also operate out of Zagreb Airport and a taxi rank can be found outside the passenger terminal, ground floor level, arrivals. Simply follow the signs for the taxi rank which are present throughout the terminal. It is advisable to agree a fare with the taxi driver before commencing your journey.
Buses are convenient and have a good network coverage. The ZET bus service was introduced in 2017 and stops at 20 stops along the route. Departures are every 35 minutes. An airport bus shuttle service also exists that operates between Zagreb Airport and Zagreb Central Bus Station. This is a non-stop route and the quickest bus option to Zagreb city.
Public parking is available outside the terminal on the ground floor. A total of 800 spaces exist and the first 10 minutes are free of charge. Pay machines are located around the car park should you wish to stay longer. Motorcycles can make payment via pay-on-foot cashiers with relevant pricing displayed at the car park entrance. There is also bicycle parking bays available outside the arrivals passenger terminal - towards the right-hand side.
