" We were 1 15minshr late on arrival due to a technical problem with Easyjet and I had provided our Flight number but Euopr car desk at GVA delayed us even further by saying our car was not ready so we were delayed by another 30 minutes-unacceptable when I had gone to the trouble of proviing our flight details. We almost missed our rendevous later that eveding. The staff told us that they don't 'save' cars when customers are late! They were very surly and unhelpful and sadly I wouldn't book with them again. " I was told the car was new, no damage. It had a lot of scratches, and the service light came on every time it was started saying it needed a service. I reported the damage and told the staff about the service warning before I left but they said it was ok. During the hire, I found the start/stop on the car to be erratic and the brakes very jerky. I did report this back to the staff when I dropped it off. It really needed a service. I was disappointed in the vehicle. "

" We booked a car via this company and our flight ended up being delayed overnight. Because we didn't book direct with the car rental company they could not amend the booking and this awful company had no contact numbers open after 9pm so we couldn't speak to someone from the company. Fast forward to the next morning, we tried to rebook our car and the car rental company had already given it away as it was marked as a no show (despite being in constant comms with them via the phone) and auto Europe couldn't offer another car or a discount / refund. When I called to speak to an operator from auto Europe NO OFFER OF REFUND WAS GIVEN, they said my only option was to try book direct with the car hire company and "hope" they honour the original booking. Couldn't book with the car hire company so all the money is gone. Next issue is the people who respond to emails, don't have a clue and accused me of rejecting a refund offer (why the hell would I do this?). 4 different people emailed in relation to my query and none of them could answer a simple question - "Can you confirm the car was not collected so I can speak with my travel insurance about a refund". Genuinely everyone replied to this saying that "We cannot offer you a refund in this instance..." even though I clearly mentioned in each email I was not seeking a refund from them. I genuinely believe the people who were responding to me were trying to wind me up and that I'll appear on a reality tv show soon, that is how ridiculous the responses were. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!! "

They will do anything they can to avoid compensation when something goes wrong such as a flight delay. " Over 1hr delay at desk One very slow meme et of staff All of us in queue were very dissatisfied. Once seen I was told they didn't have a car of the standard I had requested but they could give me 'much better car' for CH20 per day, I said I didn't want to pay more for larger more luxurious car so they said OK CH10 per day. I said I just wanted class I had booked. They said they hadn't got that. Eventually I was given upgraded vehicle at price I had paid. I was then given hard sell over excess insurance - I said I already had with AutoEurope. I realised part of slow progress was that all customers were given the hard sell over upgrade and excess insurance. Not what I expected from Euroocar Switzerland. When I last had electric car from Europcar last year I was told just return with enough charge to get into garage and that is fine. This year they have introduced 80% charge on return requirement. This shows remarkable lack of knowledge of electric car charging. DC ultrafast charging only gets to 85% making it very hard to return at 80% unless you charge just down the road. They claim to supply a charge card but this was not supplied. They claim to provide the car charged to 100% - it wasn't. Unlike pick up and drop full policy for liquid fuel where I can see it is reasonable to charge a 'service charge' if car not returned full I cannot see how they can justify charging for anything other than the energy as it is clear that every car is going to need a period of AC charging to get to 100%. . "

" Hiring an electric vehicle from Geneva airport presented a challenge. As an owner of a plug in Hybrid it was fortunate that we had domestic charging capability. AUTO EUROPE remains our first choice for car hire. "
" We were advise at the check in counter that there was no damage on the car. On inspection we noticed and photographed 2 small scratches on the top of the rear bumper. What we failed to identify on collection was am small amount of damage on all 4 wheels, which was pointed out on our return. No damage to the vehicle had happened during my hire period, which I convinced the member of staff who pointed out the wheel scratches. These were visible with the aid of his torch. This should have been identified prior to renting the car. "

Lets see how important and whether you address the issue or not; Thanks for your late response. As a result of this tardiness, I have spent the morning becoming more and more frustrated with the inept level of assistance provided by a number of people in your company. Your email below is consistent with the complete lack of cooperation, compassion and help provided by the various offices I had to contact to get any assistance whatsoever. When I eventually found one helpful lady in Verbier who it appears is only an agent and does not work for your company (surprise surprise) it became apparent that you were then going to extort money from us as a result of our misfortune. As you know (albeit there has been no acknowledgment) my wife has broken her leg, we only needed to add myself as a driver for 24 hours yet you charge for the entire rental - disgusting! It appears that you then cannot even provide a receipt for this gross overcharge. Once I have had a chance to calm down and get my wife home safely I will consider this along with the relevant social media feedback that I feel inclined to submit today "

For example, I paid for the full CDW through you but they vaguely explained that i would still owe them €2500 if there was any damage and I would need to claim back from you. They then tried to clumsily (or maybe that there was their way to try and get me to buy it) both their own CDW and also break down service. I would have thought that this should be included as they are supposed to renting something that will last for the period of time I wanted to rent it "

I am perplexed by how I booked this but I still had to pay an additional cost to cover the excess over 20 euros a day??. A really disappointing surprise when I specifically requested this on the initial booking and thought I had it from the confirmation and booking information on the screen at the time, can send a screen shot and confirmation. I am very perplexed by this and feel either I have been conned or a genuine mistake has been made.. please could you look into this. " Firstly I booked the picked up for the 5th of December because of my 7 month old baby was very poorly we had to postpone the trip by a day I couldn't move my pick up by a day which was more than disappointing given than I didn't want any money back just to hold the car for another day! Secondly I had to make a whole new reservation to pick up an Alfa Romeo Julia or similar car and ended up with a Bmw 1 series in what would a four door saloon is in the same class of cars with a small hatchback that didn't have enough space to fit all our luggage! " When my flight was brought one day forward, I tried to change the car hire by a day and was told it would cost an additional £1300. I tried later on to bring it just a few hours forward on the same day and was told it would still cost £1300!! All auto Europe would do is cancel the booking and start again - they were not capable of modifying the existing booking or speaking to Europcar directly to see if it could be altered - even by a few hours! At one point the auto Europe team suggested I should speak to europcar directly and put me through - but then they refused to speak to me and said I could only speak with autoeurope! I found the whole thing ludicrous and very frustrating. The auto Europe team seemed to have no initiative and I can't believe I'd have to pay an extra £1300 for a small change. I've used autoeurope for a few years now but this is definitely the last time. "

The only way I could recoup any money was by renting another vehicle at another time and then I would get a £110 refund. As the same situation will probably occur (late arrival or flight cancellation) I would lose the car again. So I haven't bothered. Whilst accept during normal times your company offers a good service, during these strange times your business model is, unfortunately, useless. "

" I got an upgrade which usually is nice, but with the current petrol prices undesirable. More importantly the car showed an electrical fault which meant it could not be used for a couple of hours. The assistance line lady, tow person from adac were very helpful and fantastic. It still had an issue with electrics showing low tyre pressure. For the short time period the car was used two hours of trouble were significant and worrying for the drive to the airport. The staff were fantastic and very professional. The car was problematic "

As the car is a seven seater and each ski rack holds three skis I took two but have subsequently received an invoice for an additional ski rack. Had I known that this would involve an additional charge or been shown the racks I would not have incurred this cost. I therefore feel strongly that this additional charge is unfair and unwaranted. "

My concerns were totally ignored by the Eurocar representative so I took a number of pictures on my iphone as evidence. No charges were made in the end, but it raised concerns around how trustworthy Europcar is in Geneva. I have my own car hire insurance to cover me for this kind of situation and made Europcar aware. " Despite booking my cars 7 months before, when I arrived at the counter the man at reception said he did not have the 2 Skoda Kodak cars (or equivalent) and I would have to have something else. I was given a Volvo XC60 which was ok and an Alpha Romeo Stelio which was too small and I could not fit in our cases and child's pushchair. I eventually managed to get a staff member to deal with me and agreed that I could have the Seat Tarraco which was parked next to the Stelio. Only problem was I had to wait for a member of staff to collect the keys from the airport office which involved him catching a bus there and back. The whole process took 2 hours and I had 2 young children and a 6 month old baby. The staff did not seem in a hurry or sympathetic. I was very disappointed. "

" Not happy at all and too stressful for what its worth! "
" Prior to receiving the vehicle, the vehicle agreement note had already clearly stated that there was damage to the front bumper with approx more than 2 CM with no paint. I received communication 3 days later stating i had made this damage although it was already stated the damage was there before i took the car. Additionally, I had waited nearly 40 mins at the check in desk before I was handed the keys and despite the vehicle note stated there was a full tank, there was not and was a 1/2 a quarter less of fuel. I am very disappointed by the customer service i have received and historically when leasing a car from EuropCar, I would always be escorted to the vehicle and collaboratively review all damage prior to taking the car and when returning the car. Had this been in place (which i believe is the correct and customarily approach) i would not be receiving such stressful communication. So in total, I paid for a car for more time then I actually received and refueled the car more than i received, now I am having to take additional time in corresponding to communication for damage that existed before my renting the vehicle. I will be assured to never use EuropCar again and will advise my company (5th largest consulting company in the world) and my friend and family of the same. "

" The rear passenger window fell down into the door as we were driving which was a shock to my Grandma who was sitting there and this let the rain in as it wouldn't go back up. Reported to Europcar, mechanic came out, couldn't fix it but said 'fault' of car not us. Covered in plastic as temp measure no offer of another car, spoilt holiday as was not safe to leave with anything in for fear of burglary. When returned car, no initial apologies or empathy from staff, just that they were taking an admin fee and said would charge us if our fault. Now waiting on refund of admin fee as fault in car. If anything we should get a partial refund for poor service and spoilt holiday. "

That specific car we hired had a minor technical problem, for some reason the cigarette lighter connection (V12 used to charge phones and electronics etc) were not working in the car, a call to the agency suggested that maybe 'I didn't buy the chargers in the EU' - which is bollox because they work in several other cars :) They did offer to replace the vehicle if I came back to Geneva which was not practical... overall not a big deal "

" A nightmare, having just landed in Geneva with my exhausted family, I was told that I could not get the car I thought I had booked. So I had to cancel my booking in order to rent a car via another company. Autoeurope still retained £500 of my booking- having delivered no service at all it was a ripoff. Really hard to understand why, if people have booked ahead of time, you know what they want and when they will arrive why it takes so long. Why not upload driving license ahead of time? Why not take security deposit ahead of time? It should be a question of turn up with voucher, do a visual check that the customer is who they say they are and hand over keys. This is a problem with all car hire firms. I believe that the slow pace is because the staff are required to upsell poor value insurance and unscrupulous products to gullible customers. I would definitely choose a car hire firm that promised to have me in my car of choice in 15 mins. "

However, regardless of the fact that we were not allowed to hire the car we paid for (incl. full coverage) and me offering €1k deposit the staff were very unpleasant. A guy with a fringe like a Superman pulled a face and said "we won't give you a car call the company you hired through, it is not our problem". This could have been handled differently and a bit of sympathy and not rudness could had been applied. We hired cars through Europcar before but this experience was horrible, left us stranded but most importantly treated in a rude and unpleasant way. Not the Customer Service you expect from such a well known company. "

" I have already provided direct feedback to Europcar. My issue was that they initially gave me an Opel Crossland Automatic. I booked a Compact manual car. The guy at the pick up are was helpful and sorted me with a manual Seat Leon. It did take an extra 30 mins. I didn't feel the Crossland was a compact car similar to a Golf or Astra, it's is described as a sub compact SUV based on a Citroen C3 or Peugeot 2008, so not a compact car. I felt because I booked through Autoeurope for a reasonable price they just tried to give me any car. They also tried to charge a winterisation fee that was already included. Anyway Leon worked out well but the hassle at the start of your holiday isn't needed... "

" the free bus service at Geneva to go to the car rental is awful - just as we arrived at the bus stop the driver saw us yet just drove off - making a sign get the next bus - we had to wait 15 minutes in the freezing cold to get the next bus. Then there was a changeover of drivers and the two drivers just spent another 5 minutes chatting with each other before eventually taking us to the car rental - while all the passengers sat or stood there waiting for them to finish their conversation - which trust me was not an important one. " Everything went well except that I had to put 4 liters of oil in the engine. The engine check light came on and then CHECK ENGINE OIL showed up. Went to the nearest gas station, shut off engine, waited about 2 minutes for oil to drain down to the pan. I removed the dip stick and it was completely dry. Put in the required oil, checked and made sure it was full and none leaking under the car. Had to make the trip back to Lucerne on a Saturday(since they are not open on Sunday) and was repaid for the price of the oil. No problems. "

This wasn't the best start of our short break. This wasn't obviously Auto Europe's fault but it still was disappointing. "

" Utterly disgraceful experience. When I missed my flight, I tried to contact Auto Europe many times on the number provided in the booking confirmation. But repeated attempts to contact failed. I've even tried the auto-call back option many times but didn't receive any call back. On a day when I missed my flight and trying to find another flight, it was really important to get hold of someone to find an alternative solution so I can book another flight and ensure that my travel plans will remain secure. But due to this disgraceful experience, it was not possible for me to confirm any other flights because I wasn't able to reschedule my rental. I will not be using Auto Europe again and also will tell friends and family about this experience. "

" Although the car was excellent and did not give any problems. I found that the staff at the pickup point were not forth coming in assisting in finding the car. Had to pickup keys from staff office. No maps or coupons were offered although we found out later that a discount on petrol purchase was available. Location of car rental pickup on return is not adequately marked to easily return the car. The entrance is very confusing if you have not been there before. Did manage to find it but it was a very frustrating half hour. Should not be a problem the next time around if there is one. "

Fortunately I was staying close to the airport with relatives and so was able to use their family car to transport cases for the first night's stay. The Europcar staff were helpful and friendly, but were confronted with being let down by a vehicle delivery. "
