" I mad several phone calls between both auto Europe and Europcar to try and recover the payment I made for the car which I wasn't issued. Both companies just told me to contact the other and I've been left extremely frustrated and in financial difficulties. I required the car to get me and my daughter to hospital for her going in for an operation and incase of a medical emergency after her operation to get me back to hospital. So during such a stressful time already this was made worse by better by left empty handed "

On the front part of the voucher it refers to a security deposit secured by credit card . It does NOT there stipulate the restrictive nature of the cards used by green motion for deposit . It is in the small print on one of the 5 or 6 pages . They said the only option was to pay an extra £45 per day / ( nearly £200 extra ) using the cards they would not accept for deposit . I phoned your customer service who simply told me I should have read every single bit of the terms and conditions . They agreed it was not clear on the main page of the voucher . I then hired a car from hertz for very much less than green motion additionally asked for , and not much more than I had paid to you for 4 days £63 . I believe it is a scam you should not be using green motion "

" Disappointingly, my plane was late and I arrived at Green Motion Glasgow Airport at 8.02pm, but they had already closed at 8pm. Whilst I got a car (a different one to my booking) on the the following day, I was still out of pocket for £40 for 2 taxi fares leaving and returning to the Green Motion office. The big issue is that whilst I supplied AutoEurope my phone, email and flight details, Green Motion said that AutoEurope had not passed that information on to them so they did not know my plane was late or, even if they did, they did not have my contact details. I am surprised to hear that AutoEurope do not supply such details to Green Motion as that would be important information for them to monitor the arrival of a customer or whether they need to stay open longer to be able to provide the rental car. This seems to be a major flaw in the booking system that needs rectified, I'd appreciate your feedback on this issue. "

I thought I was being offered a car at the grade I had booked but it turned out to be bigger and therefore more expensive for additional insurance cover. I went to see the first car offered and it was too big. I went back to the desk and after after a wait was given another set of keys. It was a similar make and model and too big. I went back again and after quite a long wait was shown another car. I believe this was the grade of car I had originally booked. I was given given an agreement which then said there was no damage on the car. There was. Fortunately one of the staff outside noted it and signed my form. This whole process took over 1.5 hours Not a very satisfactory experience and I believe I should be sure a part refund got my additional insurance cover as the grade of car I hired was lover than what I had paid for. I called the breakdown line and they sent an AA truck to assist. I was stranded for over 2 hours while waiting for the AA truck to resolve the problem. The AA technician confirmed the oil level was at the minimum and needed topping up, and commented that he would expect a car rental company to check this prior to releasing the vehicle for hire. No compensation was offered from Europcar for this inconvenience. "

" It was actually Hertz. I wish to make a formal complaint about this booking. I arrived at Glasgow airport to be told that only electric cars where available. I was travelling around Scottish Highlands so clearly electric would be inappropriate. Unfortunately, Hertz who appear to have been car rental company (not Dollar who were on the sheet below) did not have any other fuel type cars. The information stated the care and electric or equivalent but that was not an option and if not then this have been clear as a sure a number of people have the same problem as the Hertz rep recognised. I feel this was misrepresented. I did ring your customer services but they said nothing could be done and I had to pay for another car. I did this through Sixt at the airport as was cheaper than your customer services offered and incurred a further £523.88 which is a huge amount. I did not even get offered a discount or any solution by your customer services. I felt like just driving the electric car around the corner and leaving it for the 8 days so could block Hertz from reselling it on which it would have done. This is a disgrace and want your response before placing my ratings on your websites and that of Hertz and still want this taken up as a formal complaint. "

To date, I have not managed to get through to the correct people on the phone either because they have not answered, or because the office closes at 1pm every day. "

" We booked a car for 10pm at night, giving our flight number (landing 9:30pm). We arrived on time but there was a short delay to get our bags, so we arrived at the car hire desk at 10:10pm. The car hire staff had closed and left, so we had to pay for a taxi from the airport to our accommodation. The next morning we had to pay for a taxi back to pick-up our car. Apparently Europcar/Keddy policy is to only wait 30 minutes from flight arrival! This will often not be enough to pick up baggage. I am very disappointed - do not use this company for late airport arrivals. "

" I have already submitted a complaint through your website. I had booked and paid for a VW golf or equivalent but was given a Renault Clio, not an equivalent car!!! On collection I did not have my passport and they insisted on further proof of identity. I eventually found a utility bill on my phone which met that requirement. On arrival at Glasgow airport I had to calll for the courtesy shuttle 3 times and it eventually arrived after 30 minutes - We could have walked to the off site Green Motion depot in in half the time!!! When we arrive at the green motion office off site there were 2 courtesy coaches sitting there. On our return to drop off the vehicle we had to wait again for the shuttle.......they had picked up a group of people at the airpirt who thought the courtesy coach was a general taxi service. We then had to wait for the drive to take that group back to the airport before it returned to pick us up. All in all a very unsatisfactory experience and I will not be using them again. "

" 2 hours into driving, the warning light flashes that the tyre pressure is dangerously low. This led to over an hour of inconvenience as I had to find a motorway service station with air, delaying an already long journey to visit family. The warning was right -- ALL the tyres were more than 25% lower than the recommendation. Had to fill them up, then drive with some anxiety to the next service station to check them again in case there was some kind of slow puncture. They were fine at the next stop, but the warning light stays on. I felt more reassured, but it really spoiled my journey and experience. On the side of the motorway googling for a car manual and then filling up air in the wind and rain is NOT what I expect when I've hired a car to be in perfect roadworthy condition. When I reached the destination I then had to take time reading through the manual to find out how to reset the warning light. A very bad experience; would have been truly awful and dangerous had I not been an English reader so not been able to read up what the problem was. "

It was met with a brick wall and no attempt to help. Instead i was asked if i woudl like to book another car for the day before. " Some of the staff are great but some of them are definitely not. The hidden administration fees are ridiculously high, which is GBP 55 for normal administration fee and GBP 75 for damage administration fee after returning the car (they charged on my credit card without noticing me and without my authorisation after a few days I return the car). They have different standard of pre- and post- car checking and tried to hide some scratches (especially the wheel) at the beginning but claim as my fault of scratching the wheel when I return the car (The scratches is obviously an old scratch, but I don't have a proof because I trust them and didn't take a photo for every part of the car when I pick up the car, and they were not willing to provide me with previous record of car checking when I asked to do so). This is a fraudulent company, I mean at least for the Glasgow branch. "

" The only problem was that I wanted a different car, I changed the booking for an other car, more expensive and then again the new booked car was not available. I booked Mercedez A class, they told me is more likely to be available. The Mercedez was not available, they offer a Kia, same class but I didn't want it so next available was BMW series1 but I had to pay additional cost for automatic gearbox. But at the end was a good experience and the car provided by Sixt was good. They immediately tried to up sell and hit us with additional cover charges. We mentioned we'd paid for cover with Auto Europe and they said this would still hold us liable for a £1000 excess. There was no mention of the condition of the car and the car park was very poorly lit. I then received an email half an hour after I'd left the car park about the condition of the car and if there was any damage not stated on the form I had to let them know before I had left the rental car park. This was obviously impossible. Thankfully there was no damage to the car. The staff on the return seemed disinterested and unfriendly compared to the Thrifty garage next door who were openly thanking their customers in the car park and saying, please use us again. "

Our experience suggests that it is better to buy car without insurance from autoeurope and book required insurance from the car rentals. The reason is that they almost caution is so much that we ended up buying full insurance paying almost triple the amount of rental on the upgraded car. "

" EasiRent was fine. Auto Europe, however, is very disappointing for 3 reasons: 1. You do not make it clear that you are a broker. I thought I was renting directly with the rental company. 2. You provided the wrong pick up address for the rental agency, requiring me to pay for a £10 Taxi to the correct pick up location. 3. You did not share the basic conditions until after the rental was confirmed and paid for. As such, I was not aware until too late that I needed a credit card in my name. Because of this I had to pay for additional zero excess insurance on pick up. Not useful and not impressed. "

" On arrival at the counter, I was advised that only credit cards would be accepted to pay for the excess deposit on the car. I was already aware of this having received an email from Interrent prior to pick-up. On presenting my American Express card, I was told that Interrent no longer accepted this form of payment. This information was not contained in the email. I then presented my Mastercard which clearly states CREDIT, only to be told that it wasn't acceptable because it also doubles as a debit card for ATM withdrawals. On insisting that it is a credit card, the counter assistant refused to accept it as a credit card and told me that it would be "read as a debit". I asked him to try to make the transaction but he refused and told me that without an alternative form of payment, he was within his rights to refuse the hire. He then offered me an "alternative" of paying for fully comprehensive insurance at an additional cost of £22 per day. I advised him that I already had a refundable excess guarantee policy with Autoeurope and was not willing to pay the additional insurance on top of the fully paid rental. I was then told that I either paid the additional insurance or that the car rental was being denied. At that point, I had the choice of being stranded at the car hire location (which is not at the airport) with a young child and my luggage or paying the additional insurance. Considering that I did provide 2 fully valid credit cards, this is clearly an unfair sales practice and I would certainly advise Europecar and any other customers to be wary of this company. "

I had no choice but to pay as I was going to a funeral the next day. I will not use them again! How can a car be booked for hire when the place is closed, they should never take the booking, but they know what they are doing. Doubling their money and no conscience in who they take it from! " I was sold a zero/total insurance cover by Auto Europe. Upon arrival at Easitrent I was told that the insurance cover did not cover tires or the windscreen and that I would need to take out another insurance cover of 18 Pounds a day as these were the likely risks when traveling through the Highlands. Essentially this added another 100 Pounds to my bill and rendered the rental extremely expensive. The sales person also tried to sell me sat nav which I cancelled after seeing the price tag. I have still not reimbursed after more than 7 days. As it turned out, I was given a car with a sat nav system anyways but most of the spots I intended to visit were not on the system. My phone navigation system was more reliable. In addition, the car pick up is away from the airport so you have to catch a shuttle bus which added another 2 hours on. Never again! "

I don't have a credit card so I asked my mum to pay using hers. 3 days before my trip to Scotland, I received an email saying that I had to have a personal CC to complete the hire. I am a photographer and was shooting each day up until I travelled other than the sunday and I tried twice to call (on hold for 25 mins and I gave up) and I also emailed to say that I did not have a CC. I received no reply. When I arrived on Monday I was advised that I would need to pay £35 per day for insurance cover (an extra £140) because I didn't have a personal CC and then I was asked what fuel option I would like. Either pay for a full tank or use what I needed to and refill the tank. I told the agent (George) that I was travelling 100 miles to Crear near Kilberry and he said I should buy the full tank as I would need it. I have never hired a big car like the one I was given with a 70 litre engine and it turned out that my round trip didn't even use 1/3 of the tank. I specifically asked the agent what was best and effectively I have paid an additional £72 for a full tank of diesel when I only used 1/3r of a tank. So not only did I pay the extra £140 for insurance but then an additional £72 which I didn't need to pay. If someone had advised me of the additional insurance cost, I would have hired elsewhere. And when I returned the car the agent who checked it in said he would speak with his manager about refunding the difference in fuel. I have not heard anything yet. I am angry that you advertise yourselves as cheap easy rent when you are far from it. This car hire ended up costing me £300 which was 3 times the amount it should have cost. I feel I have been totally ripped off and you did not give me the chance to book elsewhere as you didn't reply to my email about the lack of personal CC. Not everyone has a CC and you should not punish those who don't. "

" As you will see from my entries, I rate my car hire experience highly. The staff and the car itself were excellent. There are, however, three incidental matters not covered by the questions above where I felt that Autocar could improve: a. production of an up-to-date DVLA certificate. The need for this is buried deep in the small print of the Terms and Conditions. It is easy to miss, as I did. Thanks to a combination of my wife's smartphone and my driving licence number, it proved possible in the booth to retrieve it. But this really is not good enough. The hire sheet that one prints on line ought to state clearly and visibly at the front the documentation to be produced at the time of hire i.e the driving licence and the DVLA certificate - and instructions are needed up front as well on how to obtain the latter; b. supplying a car manual. When driving an unfamiliar car, it makes sense, and is also a matter of road safety. to spend a short time with manual identifying the different controls. These are not all self-evident. But no manual was provided on the grounds that these get stolen. This is not good enough. There has to be some means of easing the hirer in rather than just leaving him / her to guess; c. I picked up the car at Glasgow Airport by phoning from the terminal for a mini-cab which came to collect me. It would, in fact, have been easier, since I was coming from central Glasgow by taxi, to have gone direct to the car hire booth rather than go firstto the terminal. A simple and reliable map of where the booth is located within the airport complex would have sufficed and made pick-up easier and faster. I did ask for this on a couple of occasions after making the booking but was instead routed round via the terminal and the phone call. "

No staff helped to check the conditions of the car when they hand over the car to me. They just gave me a piece of document and asked me to check if there were any scratch on the car all by myself. Obviously, for a car that was cover with dirt, I could hardly tell if there was any scratch. Even after the washed it, the car was full of water on the surface. On a cloudy day, I could not see any obvious scratch. When I returned the car, the staff told me that there was a long scratch and need to report to the head office. I felt that I was trapped. Luckily, I took a video of the car conditions when I took my car. I then gave the video to the company staff and they agreed that it was not my problem. If I did not take the video to protect myself, I would have to pay the compensation. I will definitely not use this car rental company in future. "

There is no where to sit. It is very hot. There are a lot of people in front of me. The conditions are dirty and horrible. Everyone is very quiet, resigned to this incompetence. I can feel my blood boiling. It is just not good enough. I have a boat to catch. The queue does not move in the 20 minutes I stand in it. Nowhere. I have not moved. No one is being helpful, no one who works for Green motion looks the slightest bit concerned. There is no customer service, there is no care, there is no trust on my part. This looks like a shady deal. It is really unpleasant. I decide to go to Thrifty and rent a car from a reputable company that has a proper check in desk and a person that actually cares about me, the client. I am very glad i did not give Green Motion my credit card. i am about to write comments on social media to warn all the tourists arriving who might be tempted to use this company. I felt embarrassed for them. I felt so very very angry. it was an absolute disgrace and I think very little of you too for allowing such a shady operation to run under your umbrella. "

We call 13 times before they answered the phone, they then said just go to the pick up zone and look out for the bus, its always around. They could have just put that on the pick up instructions. When we arrived at the office we had to wait in line for 2 hours as the service was so slow, there were over 40 people waiting inline and we were all outside as there was no room in the office. At one point people started to go crazy as it began to rain. We had young children with us and it took over 3 hours from arrival at the pick up point to actually getting our car. The car was another mess, we ordered an automatic Passat or similar. We ended up with a VW caddy which is very far from a Passat and closer to a van. It is based on a VW Golf chassis which is a smaller car class, so it was in no way similar. A mondeo or a A4 would have been similar, not a Caddy. However we were told this was the only automatic they had left and more or less take it or leave it. I WILL NEVER USE THESE GUYS AGAIN. It was well priced for what we were supposed to get, but what we got was very far away from what was expected, I feel we were taken advantage of as a customer. "

The man at the Green Motion counter, Mr Hassan, said that I should pay an extra £290 for insurance because he said it was not clear that I was covered. I phoned my son in law for advice and he said it was not necessary. I am a 77 year old pensioner. I found the pressure put on me to buy extra insurance stressful. It would have doubled the hire cost. The Green Motion depot at Glasgow Airport is at least half a mile from the main care car hire area with all the other companies, Hertz etc. There was no location map or directions in Green Motion documents. I had to ask directions. Very inconvenient with a deadline. "

" Despite paying for zero excess insurance premium in full when booking through auto europe, I was told that I hadn't and have to pay it again on site. With all the commotion around us with a tired infant and irritable child, I didn't question, and paid and signed everything. " It was the worst holiday experiences of our lives. We'd rather not go on holidays in the future if we cannot afford a decent car rental with good customer service. Booked a Van and a car (car through auto europe) for party of 10 , altogether three families with one who had flown in from the US. Four amongst us had to delay their trip because one of the children was taken poorly on the day of travel to Glasgow from London. The names cars were booked against were such that Dad who wasn't able to travel on the day, was the designated driver for the Van, and I was for the car which was booked through auto europe. We explained the situation that we are 6 in the party now, and that the original driver will do whatever was necessary, online or over the phone, to add me as an additional driver for the Van. But because he was not in the room at the time, we were quoted ~£1100; for the vehicle we had already booked and paid for, albeit under the name of someone who couldn't travel that day. With an infant and a toddler really tired and upset, and the whole holiday at stake, we even entertained that idea for a few mins. Sense prevailed, we booked a taxi and took the car to the hotel. I know one might say that is how businesses are done and the fine print probably stated all that, but honestly, that's where customer service comes in which we now think is more important than saving a few quid on cheap car rental. All in all, the worst experience for all of us involved. My suggestion to everyone from now on will be: Stick to the big names like Thrifty or Europcar. Thrifty saved us the next morning by giving us an excellent deal on an almost brand new 7 seat SUV with infant and child car seats that were really comfortable. "

Easirent were operating from a local hotel reception area. The area was congested with people who were trying to obtain a vehicle. Eventually we were requested to move into the hotel waiting area, and informed that a member of staff would come to collect us. An hour later we were still waiting. I returned the car full of fuel and there was no extra charge noted on the close out reciept. I expected therefore that this amount to be released on handing the car back, but it is still showing on my credit car statement 2 days later. I complained to Enterprise and was told it would take 10 days for a refund and they can do nothing to speed things up. This is totally unacceptable since I already paid for the total cost of this rental in advance to Auto Europe. "

I have never had a hired car before so was a bit nervous about it and it was a brand new car into the bargain. Even though it was a very wet day nothing was a problem to John.
