    Airport Information

    Catania Airport (CTA)
Official Name: Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, Italian: Aeroporto di Catania-Fontanarossa Vincenzo Bellini. Also known as Vincenzo Bellini Airport.
Address: Via Fontanarossa, 95121 Catania, Italy
Location: The location of the airport is 2.6 miles south-west of the city of Catania.
Airlines operating at Catania Airport: Air One offers flights to Catania from London Gatwick, while easyJet has flights from both London Gatwick and Luton. Seasonal flights are offered by multiple airlines, including British Airways and Norwegian, who both have flights from London Gatwick. Thomson Airways' seasonal charter flights also include routes from Birmingham, London Gatwick, and Manchester.

Catania Airport is the busiest Sicilian airport, and also among the busiest in Italy, in spite of its humble size. Catania Airport's new passenger terminal replaced the old amenities in 2007 to better cope with increased traffic. There are now separate departures and arrivals areas, with departures located on the first floor of the terminal. A flight information office is at your service in the arrivals hall.

Car hire Pick up and Drop off

Car rental suppliers' offices are located both within and outside the terminal - please check the information given on our booking engine, and any additional information in the Terms and Conditions, as to the location of your supplier. You will find the main car hire parking area next to the P4 car park.

Please make note of the name of your supplier, found on your voucher under "Rental Company". This is the company whose desk you should go to to pick up your car hire from Catania Airport. Do not go to Auto Europa/Sicily By Car's desk unless this company is your supplier. Auto Europa is one of many suppliers, and not the same company as Auto Europe. Auto Europe is a broker, not a supplier.

Both the arrivals and departures areas have facilities available to meet your needs during your visit to Catania Airport. In the arrivals hall, you will find a coffee bar, a post office, and a currency exchange desk. Two restaurants, a coffee bar, and a shopping zone serve you in the departures area. A bank and cashpoints are also available at the airport.

Transportation / How to get to the airport

You can reach Catania from the airport in about 15 minutes by driving along Via Plebiscito. The airport is also well connected to the rest of Sicily. To get to Syracuse, for example, take the E45 for 39 miles - the drive takes about 45 minutes. Palermo, on the other hand, is about a 2-hour drive away on the A19. Our Italy driving guide has more information and tips you may find useful.

Bus and shuttle services connect the airport to Catania and the rest of the island as well, in case Catania Airport is not where you are picking up your vehicle. The AMT Alibus shuttle service runs between the airport and the centre of Catania every 20 minutes from 5am to 12am. Long distance bus services are operated by numerous companies from the airport.

    Parking Tips

On-street parking spaces, painted with blue lines, are available in Catania, but finding them may prove difficult. If you do find a spot, remember to pay using a parking meter. Private parking lots are a more expensive option than parking on the street, but they are also safer, and may therefore be preferable to allow you to fully enjoy your holidays.
