    Station Information

Originally of wooden construction, the train station was built in 1856 and was converted into a stone structure in 1860. Limoges-Benedictins Train Station derives its name from the city in which it serves, and a monastery that was located on site. In 1929 a new station was built with an impressive dome ceiling. The station is unique because it was built over the existing train tracks, as opposed to beside them. Designed by architect Roger Gonthier, the southwest side of the station terminal has a 220-foot-tall clock tower. The station is spread over two floors, with the top floor dedicated to offices. From here you’ll also gain great views over the city.

Where to pick up my car hire at Limoges-Benedictins Train Station

Currently, there are two car hire suppliers present at the train station, although if you rent a car at Limoges-Benedictins Train Station, you’re still going to get a great deal. The Avis car hire desk is in the station itself, whilst the Sixt car hire office is located just outside the station terminal. There is signage within the train station to guide you to the car rental desks. Before you arrive at the car rental desk, you should have to hand all the necessary documents for a stress-free pick-up.

To hand you should have your rental voucher, identification, driving licence (International Driving Permit, if required), and a valid credit card. Depending on the car hire supplier, more than one credit card may be required – please consult your voucher for details. The credit card must be in the name of the main driver and contain enough funds for a deposit. Deposit amount is mentioned in your voucher. Inspect the car and note anything of concern on the pick-up slip. Take video or photographic evidence if possible. Upon your return, make sure a staff member inspects the car and signs it off as being okay. Only then will your deposit be released back onto your card. This may take up to 14 working days to process.

    Parking tips

There are two station car parks present. Car park P2 is located at Allée de Séto, whilst car park P1 is at 8, rue Aristide Briand. Both car parks are paid for hourly with prices displayed at their entrance. Both car parks allow free drop-off. Both car parks are within easy walking distance from the train station, making a car rental at Lemoges-Benedictins Train Station a viable one.

Parking in Limoges itself can be problematic in the city centre. Outside points of interest and tourist hotspots can also be problematic. Free on-street parking is available although hard to find. It is also important to note that some areas may be residents only parking. There is free parking at many hotels within the city, including at the shopping centres. On-street parking metres exist, and car should be taken to obtain a ticket for your stay if you park in one of these bays.
