Car Hire at Madrid Chamartin Train Station - Discovering the Spanish Capital

Madrid Chamartin Train Station (known locally as Estación de Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor) is a major railway hub located just north of the inner city. Inaugurated in 1967, it was further improved and expanded in the early 1980s for the 1982 World Cup. As one of Spains principal train stations, Chamartin offers connections right across the country and beyond, with regular services arriving from Paris with stops in other important cities such as Bordeaux and Burgos en route.

Managed by the state-owned railway operator Renfe Operadora, Madrid Chamartin Train Station caters for more than 33 million passengers every year and is the terminus for some of the high-speed AVE services, along with several long distance routes. The whole area surrounding the station is currently the focus of a large-scale urban renewal project designed to transform key parts of the north of Madrid into a commercial centre, including Madrid Chamartin Train Station.

Located in Calle Agustín de Foxá in the heart of the upmarket Chamartin district of Madrid, the station is in close proximity to many of the city's landmark buildings, most notably Cuatro Torres, Sorolla Museum and the world-famous Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to Real Madrid Football Club. It is also within easy reach of the city centre where most of Madrid's top attractions can be found.

Picking up your car hire from Madrid Chamartin Train Station gives you quick access to some of the most popular places in the city's surroundings, such as the El Escorial Monastery and Palace less than an hour's drive north-west of Madrid and the Royal Palace of Aranjuez a short drive south of the city. The magnificent cities of Toledo and Sigüenza are other day-trip options for people staying in the Spanish capital.
