    Location: The airport is close to the area of Woolsington in Newcastle upon Tyne, about six miles from the centre of the city.
    Airlines operating at Newcastle Airport: There are over 20 airlines with both international (mainly European) and domestic destinations.


    Newcastle Airport is made up of one terminal building that hosts arrivals and check-in facilities on the ground floor, and departure gates on the first floor. When entering the building, the international arrivals are to the left, and the domestic arrivals to the right. An information desk serves travellers on the ground floor, next to the check-in desks. The so-called departure lounge is undergoing redevelopment due to be finalised in 2015.

    Car rental companies have their desks inside the terminal building, opposite domestic arrivals. Other car hire facilities are located near the Fast Track and Meet & Greet parking area, close to the terminal building.     Airport Facilities

    In the public access area of the airport on the ground floor you can find a newsagent's, two caf├ęs, and public computers with internet access. Most facilities are located after security in the departure lounge. After refurbishment of this area is complete, it will house numerous dining options including an American-style diner and a beer house, as well as shopping opportunities in the duty free shop, clothing shop, and newsagent's. You can also make use of the airport's free Wi-Fi for 45 minutes throughout the terminal building.

    Transportation / How to get to the airport

    The drive from Newcastle Airport to Newcastle upon Tyne is a very short one: just drive along the A969 and you will reach the centre in about 15 minutes. Other cities in northern England are not far either. Leeds, for example, can be reached in two hours via the A1.     Travel from the airport using public transportation is also possible. The Tyne and Wear Metro system has a station at the airport. Head to the left once you have exited baggage reclaim to find the entrance to the station. The Metro serves Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland, and North and South Tyneside. Trains depart every 12 minutes during most of the day, and you can reach central Newcastle in under half an hour. There are also five bus routes operating between the airport and the surrounding towns.

    Parking Tips

    With over 2,200 on-street parking spaces, Newcastle offers plenty of places to park your car. However, you must pay for parking throughout the week, with more detailed information to be found signposted near your parking space. Parking facilities are also available in multi-storey car parks around the city.
