    Driving Information in Denmark

    Driving Licence Requirements

    The driving licence requirements in Denmark state that you must be at least 17 years old to drive and have a full driving licence valid in your country of residence.

    Age Restrictions

    To hire a car in Denmark, you must be at least 23 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 1 year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. Some suppliers have a maximum age limit of 80 years old.

    When driving around Copenhagen or any other Danish city, you will need to display a parking disc on the dashboard of your car hire, good for 1 hour, when meters are not available. The discs are available at banks, gas stations, and tourist offices. Some towns have parking meters that allow 3 hours of parking.

    One-Way Car Hire

    Domestic one-way car hires are unrestricted and free of charge. There are fees for international one-way rentals, and not all vehicles are allowed. If you plan to drive a Denmark car hire, you can pick it up in one location and return it to a different one, but there are some restrictions that you need to check with your car hire supplier.
