" It is a small point, but I found it preferable to see quotations including the amount to cover recovery of excess charges at the outset. As it is currently set up, the quotation is misleading because the excess coverage has to be set up after you've decided upon the rental and only at the point when you are making the booking. "

On this occasion I was 60 min late to collect the car. I was informed the car was no longer there and that they had another car of the same class but it was £140 more to pay! " I ordered a jeep. When I went to collect was asked if I wanted to upgrade at EXTRA cost per day to a Tesla. I said no, I wanted the Jeep as it was higher off the ground and needed as I am having a hip implant and have mobility issues. This car was low to the ground and I had constant trouble getting in and out of it; I was basically told I had to take it or have nothing. What annoyed me most was your company tried to con me into paying extra for a car I didn't want which I was not happy about! I was not shown how to charge the car and wasted almost an hour ringing round trying to contact someone on how to do it, in the end I had to ring the breakdown company to find out how to disconnect the cable. There was also no home charging cable so I had to keep driving to Tesco every day and could only put a max of 20% in as parking there is a max 2 hours! I tried to get in touch with the office but as you have hidden the direct numbers I couldn't contact them. I was glad to hand the car back, it was the worst car I have ever driven! Also front bumper was covered in scratches. "

" We hired a Polestar 2 which was great, but as an EV our biggest issue was finding charging stations in Scotland that worked effectively with the car. Charge Place Scotland seems to have a near monopoly in that country, and although I hear has been taken over by another company we had a number of issues where the car accepted a deposit, accepted the connection, but then failed to deliver any power. We lost many hours with unreliable charging stations - but hopefully this is all teething problems and the whole UK network will be as simple and reliable to use as any petrol station. "

" Hi, I booked car hire from Avis via Auto Europe with a total price of £89.62. When I spoke to Avis they said the insurance could be difficult to claim back from Auto Europe if I had an accident even if I was not at fault, so I paid an additional £8 per day to reduce the excess from £1500 to £500. Therefore I expected the total to be £113.65. You can understand my surprise when the bill I received was £177.64. I was upset at the total lack of communication or information explaining that the total rental is not £89.65 at all and there would be numerous additional charges! I will certainly not be using Auto Europe again and will warn others that going through a third party incurs hidden costs. If Avis is at fault and that this is incorrect then I apologise if that is the case. "

We were in a remote location and it was very worrying until we found a garage. The mechanic checked the oil which was incredibly low and needed a litre to get back to normal. This cost me £10. I had to wait until 12:50 for a car that was in a different class to the one I booked. It was a large estate car which was tricky to negotiate into the parking space where I was staying. You failed to honour the appointed time and the type of vehicle reserved. " I booked a car for 6 days but was refused rental by Hertz on day 1 as I did not have the paper counterpart of my licence (I did have the photo part). I had the paper counterpart posted to me and went to pick up the car 3 days later than the original date, but was again refused as it was not the original date (even though I'd paid for 6 days and would now only be using it for 3 days). Hertz washed their hands of it, saying it was Auto Europe's responsibility, and Auto Europe said they would not refund me as it is stated in the small print of their terms and conditions that not presenting a valid licence would result in me being refused service. So strictly speaking they are covered legally, but ultimately they paid Hertz nothing (which I have confirmed with Hertz), provided me with no car and still kept all of my money. Not a company I will ever use again. "

" Car smelled of cigarette smoke and I took it back with more fuel in than when I picked it up. Worst of all, when I collected the car it was raining heavily so it was difficult to the condition of the car, other than the visible areas. When I took the car back they 'quickly' discovered scratches under the front bumper which were definitely not caused by me. However, I could not prove this, even though the car was always parked away from other vehicles, so I had to accept a charge of £735. I resent my integrity being questioned and the fact that the person checking in the car, suddenly 'found' the scratches. "

On returning the vehicle he immediately found a small nick on an alloy which I do have a photo of. He immediately charged me £135 pounds saying I can claim it back. He admitted it was probably caused by the road surface as it wasn't a scuff. I came away feeling so upset as the car had hardly been used in the time I had it and I'd been so careful. Not a nice end to my trip to Newcastle for my daughters wedding "

" Not a reassuring start to a week's holiday "
" When I went to collect the hire car, there was not a car for me to collect. The computers we're also down so he couldn't do any paperwork. I had to walk to Gateshead to collect a car from there. I booked a Vauxhall Insignia or equal but was told I was getting a Scoda Octavia, which is not equal as it was £15 cheaper to book an Octavia. There was only one member of staff at the Newcastle branch so he said he couldn't close the shop to give me a lift, when he phoned Gateshead they said they had no-one to send, hence me walking,but when I got to Gateshead there is 4 staff members milling about so I could of got a lift. Gateshead give me a free update to a M.G. ,worst the pitty as my 88 year old dad had recently had a bad fall and hurt his neck. The M.G.s suspension was none existing so everytime we hit a bump ,it hurt, all 6 hours there then 6 hours back, not happy with upgrade. Newcastle said he would credit me £10 for having to walk to Gateshead and £15 for the downgrade to the Octavia, I have not received anything. "

" Hired the car from 23/7/19 to 1/8/19, when i handed the car back, they checked the car & found new damage (some slight scraping of the rear alloy wheel), i was totally unaware of this, until it was pointed out on return. Anyway the Avis staff said they would check the approximate repair cost & told me it would be £101, which i thought was a bit steep, but i agreed to pay & signed electronically on a handheld gadget to sanction the payment. On the 28/8/19, i received an email from Avis along with a pdf of a receipt for £35, they haven't taken any further payments, so that's canny. I claimed this £35 back from the Auto Europe full insurance i took out, it took a bit of doing, but they did pay up eventually, though they're not the best for communication, i would recommend customers of Auto Europe take out their full protection, which is a fraction of the cost of the actual car hire company's full insurance. "

" My flight was delayed and when I arrived to pick up my car the Enterprise desk was closed. As I had no hire car and was alone and it was 11.3pm I had to take a taxi £48.50. I then did not have a car and had to rely on friends to drive me around. I called Autoeurope customer services on Saturday and was told I should have paid for out of hours service but Enterprise does not offer that at Newcastle airport. Anyway, turned up at booking time and 6 people in front. 4 had not pre-booked. Collected car 45mins late (strangely enough I didn't get a discount for that period which seems at odds with the companies apparent rigorous timing policy). Picked up 7 additional scratches and faults not already on the sheet (which only had some 4 issues). Added them to the paperwork and went back to the office. Chap signed it off no problem. Thing is, he signed my copy and I just walked out. I could have dented the car, added it and had been able to provide (fraudulent) evidence it was done when I accepted the vehicle. No way to run a business that but more importantly is that the amount of damage I found was shocking. I could easily have been billed for that. Also, I brought the car back at 0730hrs and nobody there. I prefer to have confidence the state of the vehicles return will not be challenged. I have not yet been refunded my deposit. I am going back to Newcastle airport next week and will use Hertz. I like their electronic system displaying your name and booking number and pre-booked get priority. I'd rather pay £12 per day more just for ease. Sorry, but really not good enough. "

" The practice of asking if the customer wants to reduce the very high excess of £1,400 for an extra £20 per day .... just at the point of handing over the vehicle keys is exploitative and manipulative. The vehicle in good condition but wasn't the Volvo I wanted. I wanted to extend for another three days over the Christmas period but the daily rental doubled to £100 per day, which seemed rather excessive. "

The assistance at the desk was efficient, but they were unable to confirm the vehicle had a drop down rear seat, so my wife had to take 2 suitcases in a taxi from the airport as they would not agree to us putting 4 suitcases in the car. The drop off was excellent, and the staff member receiving the car was very efficient. There was a small scatch on the front near-side corner of the car, which we had not noticed, but the cost for repairing this came up as over £300, so I was advised not to sign the document and to dispute the cost, not the small scratch which must have occurred in a carpark on the final day. Pehaps some one pushing a buggy or a supermarket trolley. I have now written 3 times to the Hertz contact e-mail address as indicated in the documentation, and they have failed to reply to any of the e-mails. I have full refumd cover from AutoEurope, but am reluctant to pay £306 for repair of a small (1 inch) scratch. I would value your advice as to how to procede in view or the persisten failure of Hertz to respond to my questions and observations. They have sent out 3 automated communications indicating the amount to be paid and requesting the payment is submitted. "

Anyway the excess protection insurance providers have agreed to reimburse me so I'm not as angry as I was and might even consider using Easirent again as everything else was great. Besides perhaps all hire firms are as rapacious? "

They said I couldn't take the car because the address on my UK driving licence was not the same as my residential address matching my credit card. DVLA will not accept a non-UK address and state the last UK address should remain on the card. I was then given the opportunity to purchase their insurance for £80+ for my 46 hours of hire. I have my own excess insurance at £39 per year. At this point I was taken back to the airport where I had to hire a car from Hertz for£79:98. I had already paid you £23:91 for which I have received nothing. "

The staff clearly understood my issue and acknowledged the car was under sized but had nothing else in the same category. The only alternative was for me to pay to upgrade to a Citroën C4 Picasso which, in my opinion, should have been a similar size to the car ordered.
