    Alternative Ski Destinations

SkiingSweden, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, France or Italy… Been there, done that.

Do you also feel like you end up travelling to the same ski destinations and the same countries for your winter holidays? What many people don’t realise, is that there are many more ski resorts around the world. Here in this post, you will find 6 ski destinations in countries you might not even have known had snow or winter sport activities.

    1. Australia
In the land of saltwater crocodiles, kangaroos and koala-bears, you can ski at Mount Hotham and in the Perisher area in the southeast corner of New South Wales and Tasmania. The best time of the year to go skiing, is in from June to October.

    2. Dubai
Dubai has many attractions – even skiing. In fact there is a large indoor ski resort in the middle of the hot dessert. In SkiDubai there is snow all year round and a total of 22,500 square meters, distributed between five slopes, of which the longest is 400 meters long and 60 meters steep.

    3. India
In Srinagar, in the Indian Kashmir province, you can ski in the Himalayas. The world’s highest gondola lift takes you to the top, from which it descends in a raw, unprepared terrain. There are not very many skiers, but watch out for the monkeys, playing in the snow and beware of avalanches.

    4. Israel
Holidays in Israel are not only about relaxing on the beach in Tel Aviv or exploring the religious culture in Jerusalem. From January to March, you can ski on Mount Hermon, located in the Golan Heights and just a few kilometers from the Syrian border. The ski resort was established in 1971 and, despite the low location and climate change, has had snow every year, except in 1999.

    5. Morocco
Have steaming hot couscous and tea when you have finished the day’s skiing on the Moroccan ski destinations Oukaimeden and Michlifen. Both resorts lie only 1.5 hours away from Marrakech and is therefore a great destination for both skiing and a city break.

    6. South Africa
When you are finished searching for the Big 5 in the South African safari parks, you can move your way to the country’s only ski resort, named Tiffindell Ski Resort. This very small ski resort is located in the Drakensberg Mountains and only has snow between June to August.
