Car hire at Aberdeen Airport – Touring Eastern Scotland

With over three million passenger movements every year, Aberdeen has the third-busiest airport in Scotland after Edinburgh and Glasgow. Travellers can expect a diverse eating and shopping experience, plus they can look forward to a choice of executive lounges and some fantastic airport parking facilities. They can even pick up a bottle of rare Scottish whisky at the airport's impressively-large Duty Free store, which was probably made at one of the city's nearby distilleries. It also serves as the main gateway to a part of Scotland overflowing with natural and cultural treasures, from ancient castles and palaces to a deep lake famous for its camera-shy monster!

Aberdeen Airport was inaugurated on the 28th of July, 1934 in an expanse of prime terrain not far from the city centre. Owned by AGS Airports Ltd, it became an important Royal Air Force station known as RAF Dyce during World War II and has since grown into a modern international air transportation hub for leisure traffic and people working in the North Sea Oil industry. Today it caters for several high-ranking airlines, including airBaltic, BH Air, British Airways (London–Heathrow), Eastern Airways (Humberside, Newcastle and Wick), easyJet (London–Gatwick, London–Luton, Manchester and seasonal flights to Geneva), Flybe (Belfast–City and Birmingham), KLM, Loganair, Ryanair, Scandinavian Airlines, TUI Airways, Widerøe and Wizz Air.

The city of Aberdeen itself is quickly emerging as one of the United Kingdom's most prized tourism assets on account of its delightful architecture and thriving arts scene. Spanning four floors, the excellent Aberdeen Maritime Museum illustrates the city's long relationship with sea while the popular Duthie Park Winter Gardens provide plenty of fun and entertainment for families with yung children, especially during the summer months. But Aberdeen's star attraction is arguably an old bridge known as Brig o'Balgownie which was built in the early 14th-century on the orders of Robert the Bruce, who was King of Scots from 1306 until his death in 1329.

With a car hire from Aberdeen Airport, most of Scotland will be your oyster. You'll have all the freedom and flexibility you'll need to see its most important sights before enjoying some fun-filled day-trips to some of the most interesting places in the area. These include Cairngorms National Park which comprises more than 4,500 square-kilometres of glorious countryside just west of the city and Balmoral Castle, one of the royal family's favourite holiday hideaways. Last but not least, why not head over to Loch Ness for a relaxing stopover beside one of the world's most famous lakes near Inverness.
