    Parking tips

Once you have picked up your car rental at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof Train Station, the next consideration is where to park if you're planning to visit all the top tourist sights. Vacant on-street parking spaces in central Frankfurt are much sought after but do exist, although you should expect to pay quite a high hourly rate if you do manage to find one. Likewise, the areas most popular with tourists (such as the Sachsenhausen district) have limited on-street parking opportunities, even at the weekend. Another consideration is that parking in some areas is strictly reserved for residents, so make sure you always check the street signs when you see a free space. In areas where paid parking is available, you may need to acquire a parking disc with a time dial that needs to be displayed (and highly visible) on your vehicle's dashboard. This disc is normally provided by the car hire supplier, so if you are planning to park in the city centre it is best to check with the car rental staff before leaving the pick-up station. Otherwise, you can pick one up at tobacco shops, police stations or in most gas stations. Besides on-street parking, there are numerous car parks and underground garages located around the inner city, as well as the popular Park+Ride (P+R) car parks further out which offer affordable parking in close proximity to Frankfurt's excellent public transort facilities.
