The airport is an international airport located in Marignane around 17 miles north west of Marseille. It is the fifth busiest airport in France for passenger numbers and the third largest in regards to cargo traffic. The airport was previously known as Marseille-Marignane Airport and has been managed by the Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1934. The airport opened a new terminal in 2006 for budget airlines which was further expanded in 2013.

The airport has 2 passenger terminals. Terminal 1 which has halls A & B. Hall A ground floor is divided between arrivals and check in and the upper floor is where departures are located. Hall B ground floor is also where arrivals are located. Upper floor is split into hall 3 and hall 4 both of which are for departures. Terminal mp2 is the budget terminal which was built in 2006 but will soon be known only as terminal 2. Both terminals have a variety of services such as food concessions and shops.
The airport has a variety of services throughout the terminals including several ATM’s, currency exchange and bank. Lost and found, information desk, Wi-Fi access, first aid services, beverage and confectionary dispenser, photo machines and VIP lounges. Shops include, Aelia Duty Free, Air De Provence, Casino Shop, Cure Gourmand, Danael, Fnac, Relay, Marionnaud Parfumerie. Food Concessions and restaurants at the airport are Comptoirs and Cie, Brioche Doree, Burger King, Chefs en Provence, Class’Croute, La Cantine Des Voyageurs, Caffe Ritazza and Starbucks.
To rent a car at Marseille Airport would be the easiest and most accessible way of transport to and from the airport, the airport can be accessed via the N113 road at marignane, roads D-20 and D9c also go around the perimeter of the airport. However should you choose not use a car rental there are several public transport options for you to choose from. The airport has several taxis at your disposal which travel all over France and Europe with bi-lingual taxi drivers and most taxis accept cash, cheque and credit cards. There is a free shuttle bus which runs between the airport and the train station. The journey takes around 5 minutes and buses run every 10-15 minutes. You can purchase train tickets at the train station, airport or online. There are many buses which also run from the airport to locations all over France. Routes for these can be found online with tickets purchasable from the airport, ticket office or online.
Parking your car hire at Marseille Airport couldn’t be easier as there are several parking areas in the airport. There is the Super Eco car park, Premium P1, P2, P3, Classic P5, P6, P7, P8. Prices vary between car parks as tow hich are short term stay and which are long term stay but each are open 24 hours. There is also a car wash service located in front of P6 which is open 6 days a week from 5:00am until 11:00pm monday to friday and 8:00am until 6:00pm on saturdays. There is parking on some streets in Marseille however most have been imposed with chargeable parking metres. There is also parking found around the Old Port tourist area or near Borely Park. Hotels are now beginning to offer their parking services up to drivers who arent customers of the hotel.
