It is straight-forward when collecting your car hire at Pescara Airport. All the car rental desks are located within the terminal building upon exiting the arrivals hall. When you arrive, you should follow the signs to the car rental desks and find the car rental supplier that you booked with. The supplier is noted on your car hire voucher, under “Pick-up Information”. Make sure you have all your documents ready before joining the collection queue.
A valid driving licence (International Driving Permit, if required), your car hire voucher, identification and one or more credit cards are required for collecting your car. The credit card must have enough funds for a deposit to be held on it. We advise to fully inspect the car, taking any video and photographic evidence if possible. Note anything of concern on the pick-up slip. When you return, you should ask for a member of staff to reinspect the car and sign it off as okay. Only then will the deposit be released back onto your card. This can take up to 14-days.

The airport consists of only one main passenger terminal. The original terminal was opened in 1996 and extended in 2011. In 2018 the whole terminal was reconstructed into the modern terminal you see today. Contained within the terminal building is all the necessary facilities you would expect for a safe and secure flight. This includes security screening, check-in desks, departures lounge, departure gates, luggage belts, arrival halls and plenty of shopping and eating opportunities.
Pescara Airport has all the standard facilities you would expect from a modern international airport. A business lounge is provided, conference rooms, a few shopping and restaurants, and extra help for those with mobility issues. In the terminal you’ll also find a cash machine, a currency exchange desk, car rental desks, a duty-free area, first aid office and restrooms. Free Wi-Fi is also provided to everyone within the terminal.
Travelling to and from the airport is relatively easy due to the great links available. There are many bus links from the airport to centre Pescara and Pescara Train Station. Along with bus routes to Pescara, there is also links to Chieti, L’Aquila, Teramo and many other destinations by changing at Pescara Centrale – to Naples or Rome. A taxi rank is located outside the terminal. Official taxis are metered with a taxi sign upon their room. We advise discussing the estimated cost of your fare before setting off.
When you rent a car at Pescara Airport you can reach other parts of Italy easily due to the great road connections. From Rome take the Autostrada A24, from Bologna-Ancona take the Autostrada A14, from Bari-Foggia take the Autostrada A14, and from Naples the Autostrada A1. Parking at Pescara Airport isn’t usually a problem, and with a car rental at Pescara Airport, the rental supplier will have their own parking bays. The airport car park is located outside the main terminal and is within easy walking distance. At present there are around 500 car parking bays provided. Pre-booking for parking at the airport is generally not required. There is disabled parking closer to the terminal building.
Parking in Pescara itself is straightforward, with designated places marked by road lines. Three types of road lines exist, and they have different restrictions. A yellow road line means that the parking bay is restricted to certain categories, such as for emergency vehicles.
