    Terminals

    Fuimicino Airport comprises of five terminals. Terminal 1 caters to domestic routes and is used by Air France, Croatia Airways, KLM and other short-haul flights. Terminal 2 caters for both domestic and international flights and is used by Easyjet, Wizz Air, Ryanair and Blue Air. Terminal 3 for transatlantic flights and is the hub for Vueling and Alitalia, amongst other airlines. Terminal 5 caters all US and Israeli flights. In 2004 a fourth terminal opened which caters for cargo only. Some terminals are going through renovation and therefore please make sure you consult your flight itinerary for your exact terminal.

    Airport Facilities

    The airport has every facility you would expect from an international hub and has recently been modernized. Rated top in 2016 amongst passenger satisfaction within the European Union, this airport has many facilities at your disposal.

    With 48 toilets, self-service check-in desks, comfortable lounges, information points, free Wi-Fi throughout and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Together with an extensive shopping area, you’ll also find security check points, customs, departure and arrivals lounges, check-in desks, baggage reclaim belts, ATM machines. A meeting point, pray room, smoking lounge, VIP lounge, a bank, post office and currency exchange bureau.

    How to get to and from Fiumicino Airport

    Finding the airport with your car rental in Fiumicino Airport fairly easy to do, simply take the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA) and afterwards take the A91 motorway. Once you’re near the airport you can follow the signs to either the national or international terminals. If coming from Civitavecchia, head towards Rome on the motorway and then after the toll gate follow the signs to the airport.

    The airport can also be reached by numerous buses. Current bus companies providing this service are Cotral, SIT Bus Shuttle, T.A.M Srl, Terravision and Atral-Schiaffini. Cotral’s bus stop can be found outside Terminal 2. They provide a service to Piazzi del Cinquecento, Rome Tiburtina Train Station, Eur-Magliana amongst others. The SIT Bus Shuttle bus stop can be found outside Terminal 3. They provide a bus service to the Terminal Station and Vatican area. T.A.M Srl can be boarded outside Terminal 3. T.A.M provides a bus service to Ostiense Station and the Terminal Station. Terravision’s bus stop can be found in the hub outside Terminal 3 and takes you to the Terminal Station in Rome. Lastly, the Rome Airport Bus (Atral-Schiaffini) can be taken from the Bus Hub outside Termianl 3 towards the Terminal Station in Rome. Many bus services stop at various destinations along route, so it is advisable to refer to the updated bus schedule and journey stops before boarding. Buses generally depart every 30 minutes, but again it is advisable to consult a representative at location.

    A Taxi rank is available at the airport and is a convenient way to get to and from the airport with ease. Ranks can be found outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 arrivals. Official taxis are white with a taxi sign on the roof. You’ll also find the drivers licence number on the front doors, aback and inside the cab. Prices are fixed but are subject to change so it is advisable that you consult with the taxi driver before setting off on your journey.

    The quickest way by far to reach Rome is by train. The service is operated by Trenitalia, with its Leonardo Express taking you effortlessly from the airport to Rome Termini Railway non-stop every 15 minutes. They also operate the Regional FL1 trains to Rome stopping at regular intervals along the way. This service also departs every 15 minutes. These high-speed trains connect the airport to Rome, Padua, Bologna and Fiorence on a daily basis.

    Parking Tips

    Parking is available at the Fiumicino Airport in short-stay or long-stay car parks. Short-stay parking is available in parking garages that are connected to the airport. These covered and secure multilevel terminal car parks are marked A-B-C & D, and easily accessible from the motorway.

    Long-stay parking is offered a short distance away, with a shuttle bus to transport you from your parking spot to the airport. With 2,000 covered parking bays and an additional 2,000 uncovered ones, the car park is only 10 minutes from the terminal by shuttle.

    An Executive Car Park is also available at location with covered access to the Terminals. These are short-stay and with a Fast Track voucher, you can benefit from lots of other benefits such as priority lanes, security checks and even a hand car wash.

    A drop-off/pick-up area is located outside of the Terminals, currently costing 3€ and marked by blue bays. The maximum stay is one hour. At location you will also find motorbike and disabled car parking and even a Pink Car Parking service dedicated to expecting mothers and female travellers.

    There is a "pay and display" parking system in Rome. The historic part of the city centre has numerous parking times and entry restrictions. In some of the city districts only residents are allowed to park their cars, which means your rent a car in Rome Fiumicino Aiport won't be allowed. In general, free parking is marked by white lines, paid parking with blue lines, and disabled parking is marked with yellow lines.
