Car hire at Venice Airport - Touring Northern Italy

Home to awe-inspiring architecture, seductive scenery and dozens of iconic monuments, Venice is a must-visit destination for the modern traveller. Flanked by the impressive Basilica di San Marco, St Mark's Square is one of the best places on earth to sip on a cappuccino and watch the gondolas go by. The city is characterised by canals and streets that have remained unchanged for centuries, with some sights such as the famous Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs drawing visitors from all four corners of the globe. Take a boat or gondala ride along the Grand Canal to appreciate with your own eyes one of the world's great cityscapes before spending a few days exploring the surrounding Veneto region with a car hire from Venice Airport, within easy reach of the Dolomites, Adriatic coast (Iesolo, Bibione, Caorle, Rosolina and other top beach resorts), the Po Delta natural park and the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene wine region.

Located just 5 miles from the city centre, Venice Marco Polo Airport is the third-busiest airport in the whole of Italy, clocking up close to 14 million passenger movements each year. An important international hub, it links Venice with other major European cities like Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London and Brussels and offers regular connections with long-haul flights arriving from places as far and wide as North America, Asia and the Middle East. It benefitted from a brand-new terminal building in 2017, which greatly enhanced the passenger experience and upgraded the quality of the airport as a whole. It is named after the famous explorer Marco Polo who was born in Venice on the 15th of September 1254 and went on to traverse the world. Begin your journey to this ultra-romantic city with an Auto Europe car hire. While most of the attractions in Venice are available on foot or by water taxi, a car is very useful when you want to arrive in the city from the airport or to visit other Italian cities, such as Bologna, Florence or Milan.
