    Driving Licence Requirements

    The driving licence requirements in Cyprus state that you must have a full driving licence valid in your country of residence. You also must have an international driver's licence.

    Age Restrictions

    To drive a car in Cyprus, you have to be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your driver's licence for three years. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. There is a maximum age limit when booking a car hire in Paphos and the other destinations in Cyprus.

    Road Rules and Petrol Stations

    General Cyprus driving information, laws, rules and regulations:

    • Driving in Cyprus is done on the left-hand side of the road.

    • Seat belts are mandatory when driving a hire car in Cyprus.

    • The use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited, with the exception of a hands-free system.

    • Drivers are to carry a valid driver's licence, registration documents and insurance documents at all times while driving.

    • Headlights need to be used half an hour before sunset and half an hour before sunrise.

    • Petrol stations in Cyprus are mainly found in the major cities only.

    Tolls

    There are no toll highways in Cyprus.

    Parking Information

    Parking meters are found in town centres and are valid for 1 hour. If you see a double yellow line painted on the curb, parking is prohibited at all times. A single yellow line on the curb is a loading and unloading zone but no parking. Be sure to check for these before parking your car in Larnaca.

    One-Way Car Hire

    Domestic one-way car hire is available and some routes incur additional return fees. There are fees for international one-way rentals and not all vehicles are allowed. Domestic one-way rentals are available for a small additional fee. International one-way rentals are not available.
