The World Cup in European cities

The countdown to the greatest football event of 2014 has officially started. It is only several hours until the opening whistle welcomes us to the World Cup in Brazil. If the Sugarloaf Mountain seems too far at this point and you still hope not to miss a single match, we have some really good news for you. You do not need to head to another continent to feel the vibe of the World Cup. We have put together a list of popular places in Europe that offer live screening of football matches. Just choose the place of your preference and get automatically transported to the exotic, fun-packed atmosphere of Brazil. Now, let's get the ball rolling.

London is certainly chock full of spots which will be screening the World Cup. Our two absolutely must-see places are The Vaults and The May Fair Hotel. Tucked deep in the underground world of Waterloo Station, there is a 30,000 sqft multi-purpose arts space, made of beautiful Victorian brickwork, awaiting to surprise its visitors with its versatility and a programme especially created for the World Cup 2014. It promises a 5 metre wide screen, no queuing for a drink and fabulous parties every night. On top of that, every night will be devoted to celebrating a different country. The Vaults brings you the flavour of various countries that take part in the World Cup.

Get ready to immerse in their culture, music, and cuisine! Have we mentioned Brazilian samba dancers and ping pong tables at the venue? If you, on the other hand, fancy something more glamorous and intimate, then look no further. A true and iconic gem, The May Fair Hotel, is precisely a place for you. Often referred to as a by-word for elegance, this enchanting place will win you over with its opulent interiors and a luxurious choice of food and drinks. During the public screening they will serve champagne as well as the finest wines and beers. You can also indulge in some of the most exquisite dishes prepared by top chefs. The May Fair Hotel guarantees ultimate luxury and football watching in great style.

All over Europe hotspots for public screening are being given a final touch. Why not couple a holiday abroad with cheering for your favourite team at some of the most beautiful places in the old continent? Rome, Paris, Barcelona to name just a few. What was once upon a time known as a gladiators' ring in Rome serves nowadays yet another purpose. Circus Maximo, located in the capital of Italy, is a famous Roman go-to place to support their Azzuri.

Spain will welcome football fans at 'Santiago Bernabeu Stadion', the home stadium of Real Madrid, as well as at the Plaza de Col in Madrid, where football matches are usually broadcast live. Apart from this, celebrations take place on one of the most popular boulevards - El Paseo de Recoletos and around the Fuente de Neptuno. Another fantastic spot is of course the famous boulevard Las Ramblas. This well-known street in Barcelona has been a gathering place for football fans for decades.

Paris is our last but certainly not the least pick. Our French neighbours loved the public broadcasting of the World Cup 2010 around the Eiffel Tower. The Grande Nation will definitely have a blast supporting their team again right around the Parisian landmark. With fantastic discounts Auto Europe enables you to set off and discover the public screening hotspots in Europe. All the information can be found here on the Auto Europe webpage. Enjoy the World Cup 2014!
