Marseille is the third biggest city in France and is known as the largest port located along the Mediterranean sea. It is also known for being a city full of beautiful architecture with some stunning buildings dotted around the area.

One of the most popular tourist attractions is the cathedral Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde. It was built in the 1850’s on the grounds of the ancient fortress of Marseille and is filled with marble, murals and mosaics, as well as a large gilded statue of the Virgin Mary which sits above the bell tower. It is the main point on the Marseille skyline where you can also enjoy views of the beautiful city below. Vieux Port is where the boats and ships first began to dock back in 600BC until it was decided it was too shallow for new and improved steamboats. However should you decide to pay a visit today you will find many sailboats, restaurants, bars and shops as well as a Ferris wheel located on the shore.

Marseille also has a great nightlife from wine bars to nightclubs, there is plenty of places to choose from. U.percut has a huge range of music and is mostly known as somewhere to go when you want to dance, it ranges from jazz, soul, hip hop and late night DJ’s serving wines, whisky and tapas. R2 is an open-air cocktail bar with several DJ’s playing each night with music such as house, electro, disco and rock, it also has a waterside restaurant below named Reverso.
