Car Hire at Toulouse Train Station - journey through The Pink City

Toulouse is a beautiful French city which sits along the bank of the River Garonne. It has stunning architecture and is famously known as “The Pink City” due to most of the buildings being made from pale coloured bricks.

Some of the best attractions in Toulouse that are not to be missed include the Capitole de Toulouse which translates to the city centre square. Here there is a large courtyard which hosts art exhibitions, farmers markets and also weddings. There are also small shops, restaurants and cafes if your feeling hungry and don’t want to stray too far out. Pont Neuf is also very popular, being the oldest bridge in Toulouse, it was built in the late 16th century and travels across the River Garonne. The bridge has stunning views and is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a tranquil bike ride. You can also drive an electric boat or take a paddle boat out on the river.

Toulouse nightlife has a wide range of places to visit from wine bars to speakeasys. FatCat is a speakeasy style lounge with a variety of drinks to choose from, including drinks with gin, Cointreau and absinthe. The Connexion Café is a mix between a tapas bar, cocktail bar and a nightclub and hosts live artists from hip-hop, jazz and metal. The No5 Wine Bar is extremely popular in the city and was voted best wine bar in the world in 2017 for its hundreds of different types of wines and its tempting tapas platters.

There are many places to find amazing food in Toulouse with L’aubrac being a local favourite. Although located outside of the city centre, a visit to this charming restaurant is still recommended. The restaurant has great quality of food and the recommendations are the pork sausages and the foie gras. Le 7 Place Saint Sernin is popular for its refined menu with traditional dishes but also its stunning views, which are a must on a nice summer evening. Le Grenier de Pepe is also popular, the family run business which in English translates to “Grandpas Attic” specialises in French pancakes, galettes, crepes and fondue and is great value for money.
