Do I need a credit card to rent a car in Rhodes?
Yes, a valid credit card with a sufficient amount of credit will always be required when you rent a car in Rhodes or any of the other Greek Islands. The reason for this is that credit cards are required by the local car hire company such as Avis, Hertz, Europcar etc. upon which they can hold a deposit for the duration of your car rental, which is promptly released once the vehicle has been returned in the same condition as you found it. It is essential that you make sure the supplier checks the vehicle and signs it off as okay before you leave the pick-up point, whether it's downtown Rhodes Town or at the island's international airport, for instance. Please note that the credit card must be in the main driver’s name and match the same name stated on the rental agreement. It's also worth noting that only one credit card is required for a standard car hire but for a vehicle in the luxury category, sometimes two credit cards might be required. What insurance do I need for my car rental in Rhodes?
Whenever you make a search for a cheap car hire in Rhodes on the Auto Europe website, you'll find that all our rates include the minimum amount of legally-required car hire coverage, namely Liability Insurance, Theft Protection (TP) and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), which may or may not require an excess. As CDW does not cover all parts of the vehicle, we suggest paying a little more for our popular Full Damage & Theft Protection coverage which will protect you against all kind of damage, as well as any towing costs and administration costs, etc. This small additional fee is determined by your chosen car category, location and rental duration. You need to be aware that many Greek car rental suppliers will sometimes try to offer you additional insurance during the pick-up process, which is entirely optional and in the vast majority of cases will not be required if you have already taken out Auto Europe's Full Damage & Theft Protection cover. You need to be aware that any insurance you sign up for directly with the supplier cannot be refunded by Auto Europe, such as Personal Accident Insurance, Personal Effects Coverage, Super CDW, Seguro Relax, Roadside Assistance, etc. which are normally charged on a daily basis and are always optional.
How is the traffic in Rhodes?
Although the thought of driving a car rental in Rhodes may seem a little daunting at first, it is good to know that most of the island's roads are laid with asphalt and therefore in relatively good condition. Since you'll be driving on a small island with a slightly mountainous terrain, you will howver need to be cautious of some of the hazards that might await you around the next corner, such as herds of goats or sheep in the road, for instance. The further you travel inland and particularly in the south, the condition of the roads tend to be less reliable than in the more-developed north. You should also be aware that there may be traffic jams during the summer months, especially July and August which is the high season. There are a few main roads that connecting with some of the larger towns and cities, such as the capital, Rhodes Town. For travel between Rhodes Town and the airport (which takes about 20 minutes) or Kamiros, you should take Dimosia Rodou and Leof. Iraklidon. The EO95 connects Rhodes city with Lindos in about 45 minutes, and the same route also takes you to Faliraki in about 20 minutes. Where can I park my car hire in Rhodes?
Parking spaces can be hard to find in the historic quarter of Rhodes Town because it is a protected UNESCO area and the streets are very narrow, but some spaces are available on the periphery of the inner city which means you leave your car hire in Rhodes there while exploring the most interesting parts of the city on foot. You can find paid parking close to the Old Town around the main port, for example, plus worth taking note of the different parking zones: a yellow line signals that parking is prohibited, a blue line means paid parking using a ticket machine and a white line signifies that parking is free.
Can I pick up my car hire in Rhodes and travel with it to other islands?
Yes, but only with certain car hire suppliers. For instance, drivers are allowed to take their car hire in Rhodes to other islands with Exer, Auto Union, Carwiz and Enterprise with written authorisation at the time of pick-up and with the purchase of additional insurance (note that the intention to do so must stated at the time of confirming the booking). With Abby car and Thrifty, any plans to travel by ferry must be requested and confirmed prior to setting out. Kameiros

Petaloúdes
On the western side of the island, just five kilometres south-east of Theologos (or Tholos), lies the enchanting Valley of the Butterflies, which is also sometimes known as Butterfly Valley (Petaloúdes in Greek). One of the most pleasant visitor attractions in Rhodes, it is the perfect escape from the summer heat and rare sightings of the elusive Jersey tiger moth butterfly have been reported there.
Líndos
Midway down the island's east coast, about an hour's drive south of Rhodes Town, the picturesque fishing village of Líndos is notable for its collection of old sea captains' mansions, some of which date from the 1400s. Another key feature that simply cannot be missed is the towering Acropolis which encompasses the ancient Temple of Athena built around 300 BC
