Renting a car on the Balearic Islands is an excellent way to explore these captivating islands off the coast of Spain. Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera attract visitors from around the world, each seeking a unique holiday experience!
Pick up your rental car in Mallorca and explore this diverse island. You can relax on beautiful beaches, experience the lively nightlife, and visit amazing tourist attractions! Consider renting a car in Ibiza as well. While known as the party hub of Europe, this stunning island has much more to offer. With a rental car, you can venture off the typical tourist path and discover the authentic Ibiza!
What better way to uncover new and exciting destinations than with a rental car in Spain from Auto Europe!
While there are ferry services available daily to and from the islands, connecting to the mainland, as well as the neighboring Balearic islands, it's crucial to remember that most car rental companies do not permit their vehicles to be taken on ferries. Make sure to confirm this policy with your car rental provider and Auto Europe in advance.
When renting a car on Mallorca, you are allowed to travel off the island with the local suppliers Everycar and Avis. Keep in mind that there is an extra fee with Everycar (to be paid directly to the supplier during pick-up) and you must always have pre-authorization from Auto Europe and the supplier to bring the rental car on the ferry. With Avis, ferry travel must be approved in advance, and if approved, the rental car is not covered by insurance during ferry travel, making the client liable for any damages.
When hiring a car on Menorca, the car rental company Avis permits customers to take their rented vehicle on the ferry within Spain, but only with prior approval from Auto Europe. It is important to note that the vehicle will not be insured, so additional coverage is necessary. Local car rental companies such as Hiper, Europcar, Keddy, Thrifty, Budget, and Hertz do not allow travel off the island of Menorca.
Multiple ferry companies offer services between the ports of Sant Antoni and Ibiza Town, connecting them to major cities on the mainland such as Barcelona, Mallorca, Dénia, and Valencia. Travelers heading to Formentera can board a ferry from Sant Antoni, Ibiza Town, Santa Eulària, or Figueretes–Platja d'en Bossa. However, it is important to note that none of the suppliers we currently work with in Ibiza allow rental vehicles to be taken off the island. If you plan on island hopping, we strongly recommend leaving the vehicle parked on the island to avoid voiding the insurance coverage.
