    Traffic

In central Granada most places of tourist interest are within walking distance. Streets in Granada can be narrow and winding, many of them one-way, which can make driving a challenge. Therefore, we suggest parking your car hire in Granada in one of the underground parking garages before setting off to explore the centre of the city on foot.

    Parking

Finding available parking spaces in the centre of the city can be difficult at times, just like in any other city´s downtown zone. Parking in one of the several car parks in Granada is, therefore, highly recommended. Situated in the heart of Granada, you will find Plaza Puerta Real right off Acera del Darro, one of the famous streets good for shopping and eating. You can read more about driving your car hire in Spain in our guide.

    Geographic Information

Granada is located right between the Sierra Nevada mountains and stretches of fertile, agricultural land. Since it is a university town popular with students, every year its population tends to fluctuate accordingly. The climate you will encounter in Granada is relatively dry, with very hot summers and only occasional rainfall, which will spare you from humid summers you can experience in some coastal cities. Tourists who would like to avoid the summer heat are very welcome to visit Granada in spring and autumn. The surroundings are a guarantee of a rich variety of landscapes, ranging from alpine vegetation in the Sierra Nevada up to Mediterranean pearls like Malaga.

    Granada Airport

The Airport of Granada is located approximately 9.5 miles west of the city. It is a great gateway to the whole region of Andalusia.

    Public Transport

Getting a handle on the public transportation in Granada is fairly easy. The most predominant means of transport are the red-painted city buses. The card called Bono is a good option as it reduces journey costs for up to almost 50%. Except for holidays and weekends, when there are also night buses in service, regular city buses normally run from 6:45am-11pm. It is recommended to obtain a bus pass also known as Credibus, which can be topped up with various amounts of money. Sightseeing in Granada on foot is not only convenient, but also a fun way to get acquainted with the hidden city corners, especially those in the history-steeped old city of Granada.
