Due to many winding roads, driving in Corsica is slower than back home. As a general rule, apply lower speed when going through the mountainous terrain. The N193 road will take you in approximately three hours to Bastia from Ajaccio. Calvi, another important town in Corsica, can be reached in three hours if you follow the N193 and N197. A more demanding route to Calvi via D81, goes through the mountains along the coastal line. The route certainly provides spectacular views, however, it is more winding and the drive takes half an hour longer. From Ajaccio you can also take the ferry to Sardinia.
