    Traffic

Due to many winding roads, driving in Corsica is slower than back home. As a general rule, apply lower speed when going through the mountainous terrain. The N193 road will take you in approximately three hours to Bastia from Ajaccio. Calvi, another important town in Corsica, can be reached in three hours if you follow the N193 and N197. A more demanding route to Calvi via D81, goes through the mountains along the coastal line. The route certainly provides spectacular views, however, it is more winding and the drive takes half an hour longer. From Ajaccio you can also take the ferry to Sardinia.

    Parking

When on-street parking in Ajaccio is difficult to find, use one of the public car parks scattered around the city. Pay close attention to road signs advising about parking restrictions. Our driving in France guide will make you more familiar with the local driving regulations and make you feel more confident when driving your car hire in Ajaccio.

    Geographic Information

Located peacefully on the west of Corsica, Ajaccio is sheltered by the mountains. It lies in the Gulf of Ajaccio where many ships dock at the city port. The city enjoys hot summers and mild winters due to the Mediterranean climate. During spring and autumn, heavy rains and storms occur.

    Ajaccio Airport

    Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA)
